I’m not sure anyone thought this was going to happen anytime soon. Heck, I’m not sure anyone thought Bobcat Goldthwait would have another movie anytime soon…or was still alive. Yet, we recently learned that not only has Goldthwait written a comedy script called World’s Greatest Dad that he’ll be directing, but he’s also signed up Robin Williams to play the lead.
In the film, Williams will play a failed writer teaching poetry at a high school. When his teenage son dies during a freak masturbation accident (seriously), he tries to cover up the embarrassment by claiming the death was a suicide. When the father’s faked suicide note gets attention, he decides to fake an entire journal to get his writing career off the ground.
Hey, I’m starting to think the title “World’s Greatest Dad” is sarcastic…
At least it’s not a Shakes The Clown sequel (or remake). Filming is scheduled to begin next month in Seattle.
Bobcat must have some pretty frightening pictures of people to manage this one.
LOL
While Bobcat might be one of my favorite comedians, I only see this working because of Robin Williams and even that might be a stretch.
Yeah, Robin Williams doesn't instill a lot of confidence these days.
What's happened to some of the great comedians of the 80's, i.e. Robin Williams and Eddie Murphy. It's like they've spent all their money and NEED to make crap now. It's really too bad.
I don't know what the problem is – but I agree. They have really fallen off.
I have no idea what's going on with Robin Williams. The guy can be down right brilliant, but then he chooses some really crappy movies. It's not even that the movies turn out bad because maybe he thought he could make them better – it's that they aren't even really good ideas half the time.
We better quit talking about it, though, before someone gets the idea to do “Good Morning, Iraq.”
I'll pass. Next!
Doesn't sound like a comedy. Sounds like a horror flick to me.
Nice write up and blog , Thanks for sharing all those good info
My Best regards
