Liam Neeson looks to be channeling his “Mel Gibson from Ransom” side in a new movie called Taken.
It his theaters on September 8th and co-stars Maggie Grace (Lost) and Famke Janssen (X-Men).
As you can tell from the trailer below, some kidnappers snatch a girl and her friend while in Paris, without realizing the girl’s father is a former spy.
I’ve always liked Neeson, and this looks like it could be a decent action thriller. I last saw him in Seraphim Falls, which was a fantastic western.
Some of the users on IMDB who have already seen Taken called it “unique”, which bodes well.
One of the writers of Taken is Luc Besson, who also did the Transporter (Including the upcoming third one) movies, Fifth Element and Point of No Return.

Liam is one of those actors that I definitely enjoy watching – he really knows how to make his characters come alive on several dimensions. I don't think I've seen a movie with him in it where I did not like the character he played. Granted I haven't seen all his movies.
Yeah, I always enjoy Liam Neeson. He's always good and always intense. I hate to look ahead, but I can't wait to see what he does in Spielberg's “Lincoln.”
Loved the trailer. The “Good luck” line at the end was awesome! This cat and mouse game with be pretty exciting!
I just watched this again and I think this is now one of my most anticipated movies. Like Ransom but with more killing and torture.
