“The Day The Earth Stood Still” Movie Poster

I’ve already commented on the pointlessness of remaking The Day The Earth Stood Still with Keanu Reeves, and I’m pretty sure I’ve talked about how I have serious doubts it’ll be any good or make any sense whatsoever with the changes that we already know they plan to make. So, I’ll just show you the poster.

I can’t say I care for the poster much either. Granted this might not be a very high-res image so the colors are probably off, but it just doesn’t do anything for me. I’ve seen a hundred posters with the same generic structure and colors and theme. I’m just not feeling it.

  1. Do you think they will follow this up with a sequel? Like The Day Keanu Reeves Stopped Acting…although I suppose techincally one must start something before they can stop it and since Keanu never really acted…hmmm

  2. They should just call the first one “The Day Keanu Reeves Stood Still”, which is like everyday of acting in his life. Would be an easy role.

(on a side note, I did love him in Speed and The Matrix, I cannot lie)

  3. Ugh - Speed was a terrible movie. That movie wasn't speedy enough because I just wanted it over soooo bad. The Matrix - I loved those movies, but not because of him.

  4. Oh no way, that was a fun romp, I really liked it.

  5. I loved Speed, The Matrix trilogy, and Constantine. His acting range is pretty repetative but if he's in a movie that looks good, I'll watch it.

  6. The prequel for this movie is going to be called “Bill and Ted's Excellent Adventure to the Day the Earth Stood Still”. It's like a Tarantino Grindhouse double feature. Don't tell me you guys aren't excited about that!

  7. Speed was good, for what it was. I like to answer “shoot the hostage” every so often, just 'cos.

  8. Looks like they stole the poster from Close Encounters and the light concept from Poltergeist.

  9. That's worth a point.

  10. I was thinking Close Encounters too, but I looked it up and they aren't as similar as I was thinking. Still, not very original.

  11. I want to see that movie!

  12. “Whoooooaaa”…

  13. ROTFL - you guys are keeping me laughing today - good job Cap'n.

  14. Point!

  15. Or I wonder if Keanu will exit the ship, stop on the ramp, lean back in his stance, arch one hand behind his head poised to strike with the other extended out from him and he says to the group on onlookers at the landing site “…I know Kung-fu…” and then waves his fingers on his extended hand motioning the crowd to 'bring it'…..?

  16. Nice. :)

  17. [...] poster came a month later and it looked OKAY, but nothing [...]
