The Top 10 semifinalists for Emmys in Comedy and Drama

In case you guys are interested, here are the 20 semifinalists in the Emmy categories for Best Comedy and Best Drama series.

Most notably and highly frakking sad in my opinion, is the continued disregard for Battlestar Galactica. I guess not enough people watch the show. I can only assume if it was on FOX, enough people would have seen it and voted it into this group.

Honestly…Grey’s Anatomy over BSG? Really?

On a happier note, I’m LOVING that Flight of the Conchords made the Top 10…that’s just outstanding. Good for them.

Can’t say much bad about the dramas (aside from Grey’s). Dexter from the four episodes I’ve seen so far is awesome, I heard amazing things about The Wire, and it’s cool to see Friday Night Lights get some more love. Not sure I still get the love for Boston Legal, but I don’t watch it, so who am I to judge?

I’m going to slap little asterisks next to my predictions for the five series who make it to the finals. There just MIGHT be a bit of wishful thinking in there, but I don’t care!

Comedy Series:

  • Curb Your Enthusiasm*
  • Entourage
  • Family Guy
  • Flight of the Conchords* (sleeper pick!)
  • The Office*
  • Pushing Daisies* (super sleeper!)
  • 30 Rock*
  • Two and a Half Men
  • Ugly Betty
  • Weeds

Drama Series:

  • Boston Legal
  • Damages*
  • Dexter*
  • Friday Night Lights
  • Grey’s Anatomy
  • House
  • Lost*
  • Mad Men* (sleeper?)
  • The Tudors
  • The Wire*

  1. I disagree with your picks for Dramas, because I think that would mean 4 of the 5 are cable shows. I think they like to have more network shows because that brings in more viewers to the telecast. And that's got to have some impact on selection, or am I too jaded???

  2. Well, I did end up picking shows that I THINK will make it, not just ones I hope for.

But maybe you are jaded a bit, because it really seems to me that cable shows are starting to trump most network stuff these days, minus a handful of good ones.

  3. The other side is, except for FNL, the rest of the network dramas are kind of pathetic…I even heard House started sucking this past season?

  4. I'm giving up on all awards shows, I think. I'm just jaded beyond repair. Overlook BSG for shows like Grey's Anatomy where even the fans think it's falling off?

Family Guy? What, are 14 year old boys making the picks now?

  5. Just started watching Damages, very good.

  6. Woo, glad you like it!

  7. Wow just got done watching 2 more episodes.

  8. How awesome is Ted Danson? You don't expect him to be good, but he's like brilliantly evil.

  9. [...] made my predictions for Comedy and Drama Series not too long ago and only got two wrong. But are you kidding me that [...]
