I can’t believe Tim Russert is dead. He was only 58 years old.
The NBC news political journalist died after collapsing at work Friday. Tom Brokaw broke the news on the network at around 3:40 p.m. this afternoon.
He had just returned home from a vacation in Italy to celebrate his son Luke’s graduation from Boston College.
Most of my friends know that politics has never held an interest for me beyond large news stories. I don’t always get into it, sometimes I find it ridiculous and insane the way our politicians spend millions of dollars on campaigning when they could be using it for something GOOD, but whatever the case, this news blows me away.
Whenever I DID happen to find myself watching a political story, it was always the voice of Russert that meant something to me. He seemed to be one of the most intelligent guys covering the story, always ahead of everyone else and respected by all. I’m going to miss that guy who I always looked for to tell me what was going on when I needed it.
This is truly a sad day…it reminds me a bit of the feelings I had when Peter Jennings passed away three years ago.

what caused his death? health issues? so sad…
-Jaimie
Hear, hear!
I had heard about it earlier today. Very sad news.
It makes me sad too. He seemed to really enjoy what he did and his enthusiasm was often contagious.
I'm not sure yet Jaimie, but being that he collapsed, I would assume some kind of massive stroke or heart attack?
It really sucks that this happened, I really loved this guy.
Hey Mike - I had read earlier on Drudge Report that they think it was a heart attack - at least that is what initial reports have said.
Sad news. It's always worse, I think, when it happens so suddenly. And he wasn't even very old.
Way too young at age 58…way too young =(
