Way back in April we told you about a movie called Edge of Darkness which Mel Gibson had signed on to star in. It is to be Gibson’s first starring role in a film since 2002 when he had the back to back hits of Signs and We Were Soldiers. Well, today we learn from the Boston Herald that Robert DeNiro is close to signing on to co-star.

As I was typing the headline above, I asked my wife to come see if she thought it was funny or not. She read it and went “uggghhhhh” without even realizing it.
So I think she answered my question.
Nikkie Finke has the scoop at Deadline Hollywood. Apparently Mike Myers is writing Austin Powers 4, and New Line is “panting” for it.

You never know where a discovery might take you. Wandering Comic-Con on Friday, I found this little booth promoting The Black Coat, which led me to acquiring the whole series and writing a review on it.
Of course, my review at first neglected to include all the names of the people responsible for that comic book, and in rectifying that, I learned more about the co-creator and artist, Francesco Francavilla.

A quicky post for you guys who subscribe to NFL Sunday Ticket every year on DirecTV, especially those fans of high definition.
I was just alerted by a buddy that there was a flyer sent out offering NFL Ticket to loyal customers for FREE. Check it out here and here. I didn’t get it, but a lot of people did.

Things seem to be going downhill for Punisher: War Zone. A few weeks ago the teaser trailer was getting some nice press and people such as myself were saying it didn’t look too bad. Then we got a new trailer that was ridiculous, there was a scandal involving the director, and now we get this poster.

Last year director Francis Lawrence brought the forever-in-development I Am Legend to the big screen with Will Smith as the star and saw the film go on to gross over $584M worldwide and become one of the biggest hits of the year. Was there any doubt they would start talking about making another one?

We haven’t written about The Brothers Bloom yet, which is probably why this is the first I’ve heard of it. But I’m glad I did, because it looks like it could be a uniquely funny comedy.
It’s from writer/director Rian Johnson, who brought us Brick, one of those awesome movies that no one knows about. It starred Joseph Gordon-Levitt as high school student who forces his way into an underground crime ring in order to find his missing girlfriend. It certainly is different, as the language and characters speak in an almost Shakespearean tone.

Last week I passed on a tidbit I had picked up, which a lot of you dismissed as just a funny line or coincidence, nothing more.
I’m of course talking about the line from Lucius Fox in The Dark Knight when he was asked by Bruce Wayne if this new Batman suit would stop dogs.
“No, but it will hold off cats…”
Obviously this is just a rumor right now, but it appears that quote above could have been more foreboding than initially thought.

I haven’t seen anyone around the comic book blogosphere talking about the special exclusive Heroes comic book that some of us received at Comic-Con last weekend, but the reason could be that it wasn’t exactly exclusive, despite that disclaimer on the cover. It contained a few previously published stories and a brand new one.
It also wasn’t very buzz-worthy.
