I'm still a week behind this show, never finished the last episode, ugh.

I've been a little bit out of the loop since finishing season 1 myself and not being able to re-watch it on Sci-fi (at least at a decent time) but reading your recaps reminds me how incredibly awesome this show is. Nice job.

Question: If Sci-fi decides to pull Charlie Jade (which seems possible/probable), will you continue to recap the episodes?

I have this one on the DVR havent seen this one yet, you got me all jazzed to go see it!!! As usual, GREAT write-up! I'm definitley going to try to see this tonight!

I'd have to think there's just no point in recapping if SciFi pulls it. I might keep going over on my personal blog, but since it would require people in the US to jump through hoops to get a legal copy from overseas or pirate a copy, I'm not sure it's worth it.

I especially don't want to support piracy of this show as I think it's just too damn good not to reward the creators.

Either you'll catch up or decide it's not worth the effort. Trust me, I know what that's like. There are more shows than I can count that I've started and just never finished, even if I did like them.

Yeah, I'm just about to go nuts with Burn Notice, and then Mad Men later this month.

Still, Middleman, CJ and In Plain Sight are the only other things I'm watching right now.

  7. R.A. Porter

You're about to go nuts? I'll be recapping four of those five shows! I've gotta learn to write shorter recaps! ;)

  8. Cap'n Schwartz

“I've gotta learn to write shorter recaps!”… NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO, say it isnt so… you absolutely NAIL these recaps… very well done, I espcecially like it incase I miss some detail I didnt catch when i saw the first 3!!!

  9. R.A. Porter

LOL! Alright. I promise not to shorten my CJ recaps. :)

  10. Mike Olbinski

Tell me about it…I was doing Sarah Connor, Lost, BSG and various other reviews/recaps during the season…it gets rough :)

I thought you were going to get TheWife to help out?

  11. R.A. Porter

I might. I'll have to see if I can't get her to do some of the Burn Notice recaps.

It's not really that bad; the shows are spaced out. If Mad Men were still on Thursday nights, that would be tough with a double recap. Mostly I'm just stressing because I haven't worked on my spec script in almost two weeks. I'm halfway through, but it's got to be done and polished by August 8. Excuse me while I grab a paper bag and start breathing into it…

    {breathes a sigh of relief}… Whew!! =)

Yeah man, well…join the club of working full-time and pumping out 5+ blogs a night :)

    It's fun though!

Great recap! Info is still being carefully parsed in this episode but we do see the story continuing to unfold before our eyes.

R.A. Porter, the co-creator (Robert Wertheimer) seemed fine with those of us who Torrent the show. It was mentioned in one of the podcasts. I'm pretty sure he realizes those of us who live in the U.S. have to resort to this kind of behavior. And he did talk about bypassing U.S. Broadcasters by trying to get an internet distribution deal. Don't know if that's still on the table or not but theres really no other way to watch the show (in the U.S.) than to download it or watch it online somehow. That is, if Sci-fi stops airing it… Otherwise, people can TIVO it, but the majority probably won't even know it's on because of the lack of promotion and time slot.

There is a website (Veoh.com) that has all 20 episodes. I might even try and upload an episode on youtube. You could link to the website and or youtube and still do your recaps. Just a suggestion. I mean, if Sci-fi stops airing it, what else can we do? I think people deserve to see the show in some way shape or form. It would be internet distribution by the fans. Who knows, maybe it would create some buzz.

  16. R.A. Porter

Yeah, I know Wertheimer's pretty cool about it, but I still feel weird advocating taking residual money out of the hands of the above-the-line creators. I think the online availability of shows can be really good for them – it can spur people to want to see them and generate a lot of buzz – but I worry that broadcasters aren't hip enough to realize that does *not* cut into their potential profits.

In the case of CJ, you just know some SciFi suits who didn't bother to market the show at all are blaming all the dirty pirates for its failure to perform on their channel.

Still, I guess if SciFi *does* kill it completely I will continue to recap it, either here or my blog.

  17. Sean

Well with Networks leaking their pilot episodes online to generate buzz, theres not much of a difference. As long as the show is properly promoted (which CJ wasn't – at all), it should help rather than hinder the ratings. I'm hearing they may be leaking episodes 2-4 of “Fringe”. That will be 4 episodes leaked. I don't understand it but they obviously think it will help them in the long run. I understand where you're coming from though.

I guess we wait and see how long it lasts.
