Graphic Novel The Leaves Getting Film Adaptation

Once again we have yet another graphic novel that is getting the big screen treatment. Summit Entertainment has picked up the film rights to Virgin Comics’ graphic novel The Leaves, created by Kevin J. Walsh.

Walsh himself will be the one who does the adaptation of his work. The story actually sounds kind of interesting. The screenplay will be an action thriller that revolves around a New York doctor who travels to Mumbai, India, for a friend’s funeral and meets an Indian fortune-teller who identifies him as the man who will bring about the apocalypse.

We can only imagine what direction the story takes because we don’t have any further details right now. I have to assume that the guy isn’t too excited about being the harbinger of doom for the whole world so I’d guess he’s going to try to prevent it in some way. It could be an interesting story.

Gotham Chopra, Virgin Comics’ founder, chief creative officer and editor-in-chief, will produce along with Virgin Comics CEO Sharad Devarajan.
