I loved Tina Fey, and suddenly she got her very own comedy on NBC.
I love Amy Poehler, and now she’s going to be the mysterious person starring in The Office spin-off.
I must have some sort of power I just don’t know about. Someone toss me a name and I’ll get that person on TV within the year!
Seriously though, this is pretty shocking news. Poehler has been on Saturday Night Live forever, and is now apparently joining Fey in exiting for greener pastures.
Nikki Finke broke this story on her blog tonight. She also added that we wont see this episode until after The Super Bowl in 2009.
That’s right. First the Super Bowl, then we’ll get an episode of The Office and finally the Poehler-led spin-off.
UPDATE: According to Variety, this show wont be a spin-off after all, but an entirely new series from Greg Daniels and Mike Schur.
They also said the show would be seen this fall in the timeslot after The Office.
Nikki says it wont premiere until 2009, Variety says this fall. We’ll figure it out and get back to you.
Meanwhile, what do you guys think? Is this a good thing? Is she enough to carry a sitcom?

I think they'll have to surround her with an excellent supporting cast just as they did Steve Carell on The Office and just as they did with Tina Fey on 30 Rock, but she's good enough to be a lead. It should be interesting.
Definitely needs a good supporting cast. I wonder what the plot is going to be.
I feel better about it if it isn't the Office spin-off. Spin-offs make me so nervous, except for Joanie loves Chachi, which was an instant classic.
I have high hopes for this, I wonder if Wil Arnet will be in her show.
I believe I was the one who said long ago that it wasn't going to be spin off, but an entirely new show from Greg Daniels and Mike Schur. Point for Ana!
Good call. It's like the people who read Pop Critics become smarter and are better able to predict trends! Point to Ana.
Yes!
