Mike brought us the first news of Blindness way back in April along with a really cool teaser poster, and he brought us our first real look at the movie just last week.
Well, I liked the teaser poster a lot, and I’m really digging the direction the art department is taking for this publicity campaign. I’m not really sold on the one-sheet poster (shown below) because I think it’s a little washed out looking to really grab people’s attention.
However, I absolutely LOVE the character posters for this film. There’s five character posters that spotlight one character along with that actor’s name and a phrase which I can only assume relates to a characteristic trait of that character. The five traits are LOVE, HOPE, TRUST, FAITH, and LUST as you can see in the posters below.
A city is ravaged by an epidemic of instant “white blindness”. Those first afflicted are quarantined by the authorities in an abandoned mental hospital where the newly created “society of the blind” quickly breaks down. Criminals and the physically powerful prey upon the weak, hording the meager food rations and committing horrific acts. There is however one eyewitness to the nightmare. A woman whose sight is unaffected by the plague follows her afflicted husband to quarantine. There, keeping her sight a secret, she guides seven strangers who have become, in essence, a family. She leads them out of quarantine and onto the ravaged streets of the city, which has seen all vestiges of civilization crumble. Their voyage is fraught with danger, yet their survival and ultimate redemption reflect the tenacity and depth of the human spirit.
Blindness stars Mark Ruffalo, Julianne Moore, Danny Glover, Alice Braga, and Gael Garcia Bernal and opens in theaters on September 19, 2008.
Looks like it's going to be a pretty awesome movie.
Definitely hope so…the plot looks great, the actors are awesome and the posters rock
