I’m not sure how many of you watched Planet Earth last year on the Discovery channel, and how many of you witnessed it in glorious high definition, but if you like those kinds of nature epics, then Earth: The Biography may be right up your alley.
It started last night on the National Geographic channel, which also has a high-def simulcast if you are so lucky. I have no doubt repeat episodes can be found all week long.
The first few episodes are about volcanoes, ice and the changing planet in general. From the few moments I saw last night, it was pretty awesome looking.
The series is narrated and hosted by Dr. Iain Stewart, a Scottish geologist. His accent is pretty thick and perfect for the job.
On the Planet Earth front: If you didn’t know (and I didn’t), there will be a sequel to that hit series called Frozen Planet. The crews who brought us those stunning visuals in Earth will next explore both the Arctic and Antarctic.
The downside is that we wont see any of it until 2012. By then who knows what the landscape of high definition will even look like.

They also have Sunrise Earth. I think people find it either relaxing or extremely boring. Or possibly both! Dave likes to watch it in the morning… I think it makes him feel Zen.
