Yeah, in case any of you forgot, I’m going to the San Diego Comic-Con next week and plan on spending Friday and Saturday assaulting booths, panels and any screenings I can get to.
The schedules for both Friday and Saturday came out over the weekend, as you might have read on countless other entertainment blogs out there. They are jammed packed with so many things, it’s impossible to get to them all.
In fact, even armed with a press badge, I’m wishing I had another person there to help me out, because there will be a few panels I just will NOT be able to view. And that really sucks, because there are great ones on Saturday.
Below is my tentative plan of attack for those two days, with the panels that I will be making every effort to attend. If any of you visit the Comic-Con site and look at the entire schedule for the event, let me know if you see something that you’d like me to try and cover. I can’t promise anything, but I will do my best.
Mike’s Comic-Con Schedule
Friday
This is the list for Friday, but I wont make all of these since a lot of overlapping takes place. It’s even worse on Saturday.
- 10:00-11:00 TheOneRing.net - The ultimate fan site for the Lord of the Rings movies and books, there should be some good stuff on the upcoming Hobbit films.
- 11:55 - 1:00 Warner Brothers - Watchmen - Should be some awesome stuff about the 2009 Watchmen movie.
- 1:45 - 2:45 Entertainment Weekly’s The Visionaries - This should be great. EW is putting a panel of producers together, like Carlton Cuse, Damon Lindleof (Lost), Josh Schwartz (Gossip Girl, Chuck), Bryan Fuller (Pushing Daisies) and Josh Friedman (Sarah Connor Chronicles), to discuss the changing face of TV. Cult TV and genre television is becoming huge, and these guys are at the forefront.
- 2:15-3:15 DC: Batman: No Rest for The Dark Knight - A panel of writers of Batman comics, including Grant Morrison, all get together to discuss what’s in store for the Dark Knight.
- 3:30-4:30 Marvel to the Nth Degree - Marvel is making some huge announcement about a new way to view comic books and new writers.
- 5:15-6:15 Entertainment Weekly’s The Visionaries: Filmmakers - Another great panel, with Kevin Smith, Frank Miller, Judd Apatow and others.
- 5:30-6:30 24 - Jack Bauer. Need I say more?
- 6:30-7:15 Prison Break - Yes, I can’t stop loving this show. Besides, Sara is back!
- 6:30-8:00 Kevin Smith Makes a “Porno” - Seth Rogan and Kevin Smith, this should be great.
- 8:30-11:30 The Spirit Presents the Will Eisner Comic Industry Awards - The Oscars for comic books.
- 10:45-12:00 Dr. Horrible’s Sing-Along Blog - Nathan Fillion! Joss Whedon! Are you kidding me?
Saturday
Very busy day, there is no way I can get to all of these. I’ve put asterisks in front of the ones I plan on being at. But I wanted to list the others that I’m DYING to watch, but will undoubtedly miss out.
And at the very end of the day, in fact, the late evening, I will be at the viewing of Mutant Chronicles. You can watch the trailer right here on our site. I can’t wait to see how it looks.
- *10:45-11:45 Heroes: Exclusive First Look at “Villains” - I’m very hopeful for a return to glory for Heroes.
- 11:30-12:30 Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles Screening and Q&A - Smashed in-between Heroes and Lost, I don’t think I can make it. But I want to!
- *12:00-1:00 Lost - If there was one panel I’d sit on this entire trip, it’s this one.
- 12:45-1:45 Exclusive Q&A with the writers of The Office - Sadly, I will miss this one too.
- *1:00-2:00 Dollhouse - This one or Terminator Salvation? Depends on whether I can get from Lost to here in enough time for it not to be a waste.
- 1:15-2:00 Warner Bros.: Terminator Salvation - McG sits on the panel, this should be interesting.
- *2:15-3:15 Battlestar Galactica - In the same room as Dollhouse, so I’ll just stay put.
- 3:15-4:15 Pushing Daisies Screening and Q&A - Ugh, totally going to miss out on this one I think, unless I want to miss Chuck.
- * 3:30-4:30 Chuck Screening and Q&A - I liked this show last year, and am reading the comic book version, which is just okay.
- 4:30-5:30 Marvel: Secret Invasion - Some cool spoilers about the upcomming issues of Secret Invasion.
- * 4:45-5:45 Fringe Q&A and Trailer Screening - I’m excited to sit in on this one.
- *5:30-7:00 Sony: Underworld: Rise of the Lycans, Quarantine, Pineapple Express - I’m interesting in all three of these movies, but will probably be late.
- 6:00-7:00 TV Guide— TV Guide takes an in-depth look at some of the new and returning TV series, featuring the hottest TV talent - There are supposed to be some potential spoilers for upcoming TV shows during this panel.
- *10:00-12:00 World Premiere! Mutant Chronicles - Crossing my fingers on this one.

Looks like a lot going on. I'll be anxious to hear what is was like to be there.
I'm tired just looking at the schedule. Probably a good thing that I am staying home, I would just slow you down.
Regarding your “Marvel to the Nth Degree”–where did you get your info? Newsarama seems to contradict yours. Lame.

You and me both
Wait, we're lame?
I got my info from the Comic-Con schedule, much like Newsarama did…but the blog post you reference was done on July 8th, when the schedule wasn't finalized. This is off the Comic-Con website today:
3:30-4:30 Marvel to the Nth Degree— In today’s world, comic-loving fans should be able to enjoy their graphic entertainment in the most thoroughly modern media. On Friday, Marvel will unveil a covert project that we have been seeding as part of a secret partnership for many months–including a sneak peek–of an unprecedented way to experience a new work by one of the biggest names in entertainment (we didn't say comic books, we said Entertainment). Featuring Joe Quesada (Marvel editor-in-chief) and Ruwan Jayatilleke (SVP, Marvel Strategic Development) and others that shall not be named at the moment. The game is about to be changed. Room 6
I think you should hit up the whole Gay Legion of Heroes, Mythbusters and the Geoff Johns Panel and Ben 10. I am serious about all of them except one. Hmmm.
I've got to get back to the San Diego Con someday. It is amazing…or at least it was back in 1986 when I was there. There is so much going on all over the place that it blows your mind, especially if you're a 15 year-old comic geek like I was at the time. LOL The biggest talk that year was about “X-Factor” reuniting the original X-Men mutants and DC's “Crisis on Infinite Earths.”
I think it's more amazing now from what I hear, especially with all the TV shows, movies and other stuff there. It's more than just comic books now.
