The CW releases its fall 2008 premiere schedule

The 2008 fall season on The CW begins much earlier than other networks, and that’s good if you are out of television to watch this summer.

Of course, if that’s the case, may I suggest Burn Notice, Dexter or Mad Men? Not a bad time to catch up on some of the best TV around.

The first shows to return for The CW are Gossip Girl and One Tree Hill on Monday, September 1st. That will be a pretty strong  night for the CW…and for our house in general. We’re already fans of GG, and now that we’ve caught up with OTH over the summer, Monday nights are going to be fun.

Of course, those of you 90210 fans are probably more excited about September 2nd when you’ll get the two-hour premiere of the next generation of Beverly Hills high schoolers.

Every show on The CW is filmed in high definition this year as well. Here is the entire schedule:

  1. Why is GG and One Tree Hill starting so early?

  2. Not sure…The CW is just excited maybe? :)

Maybe they are planning some big mid-season break, which would absolutely suck.

  3. Well, GG is starting the season while the “kids” are still on summer break. I'm not sure how many episodes, but they will start it all out in the Hamptons.

As for OTH, not sure… but not complaining - on either count!

  4. Woo Hoo Smallville!

  5. You might be right. I just hope OTH moves along this year. Last season was great but not too much happened. It was kind of slow.

  6. Yeah…the whole Peyton and Lucas thing was amazingly dragged out for an entire season…

Who the hell did he call man? I want to know!

  7. Well I don't think it was Lindsey because the actress is another show or at least going to be on another show (I think). I thought she was alright anyway.

They've drawn out Payton and Lucas so much that I would be surprised if they chose differently. I liked the idea of them back in the first season. Season 4, I felt was anti-climatic in a way. Season 5, Drawn out. It would be great if they decided to go a different route.

Since October Road is over, they can always bring back Bryan Greenberg (Jake). Him and Payton were great together. And have Lucas and Brooke be endgame. Just my opinion though. I hope we see more of the parents this year as well.

  8. While I love the idea of Jake coming back, I don't see Brook and Lucas being the ones at the end…it's Payton and Lucas to me.

  9. I'm happy with who ever. As long as they end it. Why is it (almost) every show starts off great the first 2-3 seasons but then becomes all about the “it” couple and couples in general? The show use to be about brothers and basket ball. Now that's kind of in the background. Hopefully they bring all that back for the new season.

  10. Wonder why Smallville is on there schedule. Didn't that show finish in season 5?

I kid, I kid. To me it did though. Season 5 was truly the last great season and the finale could easily be the series finale. Season 6 and 7 were just blah to me, it was like they were dragging the series out. I'm going to watch season 8 because it's the last and so far (spoilers), it sounds interesting. So hopefully it's great.

  11. Last season was slow for a lot of shows I think … because of the strike.

  12. How does a strike effect the pacing of a show though? Did they know beforehand they were going on a strike so that effected their writing? I see that comment a lot, I just don't understand it.

  13. You spoilerized “it sounds interesting” hahahaha, that was awesome :)

Yes, the last two seasons sucked big time…but it's like Prison Break for me - I MUST see where it goes…even if the journey proves to be lame.

  14. Yeah, they all knew beforehand about it, and it might have affected a lot of things. I know some of the new shows wrote differently thinking they might never return, like Journeyman.

Anyways, I didn't think it was horrible…it might have been a bit slow, but these characters are so great, who cares :)

  15. Well, we didn't watch OTH last season (we caught up over the summer), but it seems to me that some shows were caught off-guard when the strike actually did happen. Then when they came back, they were on shorten schedules in order to get stuff back on the air.
Maybe it had no effect, but I think it could have some. Plus the creative process to write a show has to have some kind of organic flow to it, I would assume.

  16. Prison Break's season 3 sucked. (Prob from the strike I assume). After they killed Sarah, I just couldn't stand watching anymore. It was just OKAY. It felt like they were also dragging things out. But… season 4 (the final season of Revenge) seems to be bringing things that have been missed back. ; ) I can't wait.
