Nice recap (as always!). This was one of my favorite episodes of the season. I liked the introduction of Gemma and Blues. There were so many things that were going on in the episode. Fast pace. One thing to the next. I enjoyed this episode a lot. Loved the effects for the water… So much, that I included it in the music video I made for the show.

If anyone is interested, you can watch the music video here:

Sean, that's a really great video. Hell, I even left a comment on YouTube which I *never* do. :)

One warning to anyone who wants to watch, there are a few spoilers in the latter third of the video. Not huge, earth-shattering spoilers, but a few small and significant ones. If you don't want to be spoiled, for goodness sake, BOOKMARK the video and watch it later. You won't be disappointed.

I especially liked your choice of one time to let the audio of the show filter through. Perfectly timed, perfectly played.

    Thanks. Appreciate it!

Thanks again a great summary. Good call on the lake filling up in Alphaverse — I initially thought it was Betaverse.
On the music front, the scene where the forger is confronted by Ren Porter had its music changed. On SciFi, it was the Traveling Wilburys “She's My Baby,” and on the DVD I've got, it was more of what sounded like MF LeSieur's eery music. The music contributes a lot to the show's feel, so it's a shame when it is changed so radically.
To R. Porter's masterful synopsis, I would add that the impetus for 01 to leave that night is the cessation of the sound of water as he sleeps. He goes out and looks at an empty pond bed – I think it's the same pond his children were playing in when they saw the pollution — and then it's off to the shower for him. And his 'illness' on return takes the form of having a lack of form.
    Water, water, everywhere …
What the heck is 01 Box, anyhow? It's crossed my mind that perhaps 01 created Gamma as a means of escape from the horrors of Alpha, as an abused child might create fantasy worlds or even different personalities to escape abuse.
But that hypothesis doesn't hold up to examination. I guess I'll just have to keep watching.

Very nice catch on the cessation of the water. I've seen that episode at least a half-dozen times and hadn't noticed. I'll need to watch again for that.

I think that's an interesting hypo about 01. Might be fun if it were true…

    Great recap.

My only critique is that no one recognizes Reena anymore. I wasn't sure what the terrorists did to her when they had her; I thought it had something to do with her eyes, but I still recognize her.

How much power does the police have in Alpha? Even though it tooks 6 tries, Sew Sew actually gets in to see Essa. She hides it well, but is clearly upset that the police know about her missing Beta employees, and she is worried. Maybe Vexcor isn't all powerful after all?

I think you should assume Reena's hair being down instead of in tight braids is the equivalent of Clark Kent wearing glasses.

As for the police in Alpha, the power of the government seems to vary according to the needs of a given episode. A few weeks back, the President (of SA, or the African continent, or whatever political entity Cape City is in) was told to come back another day after waiting for Essa all day.

To me, the relative power of Vexcor vs. the government is like the relative power of Buffy Summers. Sometimes she can take out a whole roomful of vamps in 30 seconds, sometimes a single vamp can put her arm in a sling.

Yes, R. Porter… you are masterful in your synopsis. Very well done recap.
