Sometimes I love it when you guys send in news stories that you think might be of interest to us here at Pop Critics.
But on occasions such as this one, I’m wishing my spam filter had caught The Capn’s email. Or that this entire story was a bad dream.
According to a United Kingdom website named The Telegraph, 62-year-old Cher has been hand-picked by Christopher Nolan to play Catwoman opposite Christian Bale in the next Batman film.
A studio executive said: “Cher is Nolan’s first choice to play Catwoman. He wants to her to portray her like a vamp in her twilight years.
If Nolan is looking for an elderly Catwoman on the decline, then I guess you can’t go wrong with Cher.
But is that the direction Nolan wants to go? Older? Are we looking at a possible version of Batman from The Dark Knight Returns (Frank Miller), in which Batman is aged and also on the decline?
That doesn’t seem to make sense to me in the timeline of the two movies we’ve seen so far. And isn’t Catwoman considered one of Batman’s biggest love interests in the comics?
Bale and Cher? Really? Anyone else choking on vomit?
So much for Angelina Jolie.
The only way this works is if Nolan is totally reinventing the character and taking her on a different path. We wont know her as Selina from the comic books, but more of an older, evil seductress.
What do you guys think? Shocked? Apalled? Or do some of you like it?
Please God for the love of all things Gotham make this untrue. This can't be true, please let it not be true. This is seriously the worst news I've heard in weeks.
What? Yuck. Cher is like 60 years old, and that is just too old to play any kind of Cat Woman! This has to be wrong. They have done such a bang up job on casting so far, why would they mess up now? It doesn't make sense.
Wouldn't she be “The Cougar” instead of cat woman. hi-oh
Way to go CAPN!!! =) this cant even be true… right guys? cant be…. Nolan hasn't said anything about the film yet, the only thing he has said in an inteview was EVERYTHING is speculative at this point…. he's not even confrimed for doing a 3rd. Really, this cant be true… I mean, it just cant be!

Last I heard, this was just a rumor… the Telegraph is a tabloid, and I read somewhere it was false but being reported as true because it's just too weird but at the same time kind of believable.
I choose to believe this is a farce.
I believe it's all a rumor, so we'll be posting about it soon.
