Appaloosa Gets A Poster

I’m already starting to get excited about Appaloosa even though it has a bit of a dark and mysterious history. It seems the film, directed by Ed Harris, went into production back in October of 2007 then promptly fell off everyone’s watch list. I think a lot of that had to do with the fact that it was a New Line production and New Line was being swallowed up by Warner Bros. Now it has suddenly reappeared and is getting ready for an October 3 theatrical launch.

I think this is a pretty good looking poster. I like the colors a lot and it perfectly captures the characters of the three main stars. It doesn’t do much to explain that the film is really about a pair of friends who are hired to protect a lawless town suffering at the hands of a renegade rancher who apparently get distracted when an attractive widow shows up and disrupts their plans. But it does give the impression that someone is going to get killed with the tagline, “FEELINGS GET YOU KILLED.”

At any rate, the trailer together with this poster have really gotten me excited. I love westerns and I really think this could be a good one. The actors are all great and Ed Harris won rave reviews when he last directed back in 2000 (Pollock).

Appaloosa is set to hit theaters on October 3, 2008.

  2. You're saying that because Beverly Hill Chihuahua opens that same day, aren't you?

  3. Now you did it, be prepared for the attack of the Chihuahua fanatics!

  4. Hell hath no fury like a Chihuahua lover scorned.

  5. They're going to get all their teeny ankle biting dogs together and come after you!
