Awesome Fan Made Poster for The Dark Knight Returns - The Next Batman Film?

Here’s a little something for all you fans of The Dark Knight. This poster is almost certainly fan made, but it has great details and a nice artistic flair. In fact, if it were a real poster I would be singing the praises of the art department who dreamed it up. Instead, I have to sing the praises of an unknown fan.

This poster was first sent to First Showing, but even they don’t know who created it. The Dark Knight Returns is not the official name of a sequel to The Dark Knight (that we know of) nor is The Riddler the official villain. In fact, no sequel has officially been announced, and, as far as we know, the Nolan brothers haven’t even mentioned who the next villain(s) might be.

Still, you gotta love the way the artist worked in the question marks with the papers that seem to be clues or some sort of ransom type letters. There’s also a prominent article about Harvey Dent in the center of the paper which would imply he would be returning for the next film. Great artistry.

We actually had a Friday question not too long ago about who you think should be the villain in the next Batman movie, but I don’t think we ever reached a consensus. I have to admit, the Riddler in the hands of Christopher Nolan could certainly be intriguing and the question mark emblem would be a piece of cake to market.

What do you think? Do you like the poster? Do you think the Riddler could be the next villain?

  1. Just seeing that gave the Riddler some credibility, but he is still a poor man's Joker.

  3. That's awesome…I mean, really awesome.

Even down to the details of the tattoos on the fingers and the kid drawing of Batman.

  5. I have heard a lot of conversation about there not being a third one. Though if there was I would rather see the rumors of Johnny Depp being the Riddler than Angelina Jolie being Catwoman. I think the Riddler can offer a lot more psychological plot than Catwoman which would probably be romantic or something stupid. I don't think anyone will top Ledger's Joker, but if anyone is going to come close it would be Depp's Riddler.

  7. This is cool… and they should totally do another one. I don't even care who the villain is because I think Nolan could make just about any of them work. Good stuff.
