I can’t believe I’m talking about Beverly Hills Chihuahua again. We’ve had our ups and downs with this movie here on Pop Critics. It seems some especially spirited chihuahua lovers took exception to the fact that I once suggested that Beverly Hills Chihuahua could end up being the dumbest movie of the year. Well, now it seems that the trailer for the film even annoys one of the stars of the film, George Lopez.
In a moment of suicidal honesty Lopez called it “the most annoying trailer you’ve ever witnessed in your life.”
He even expanded on his statement.
“If you’ve seen the trailer, it’s either the greatest trailer you’ve ever seen if you’re 10, or the most annoying trailer you’ve ever witnessed in your life if you’re an adult,” Lopez confessed, laughing. “Disney’s doing a fantastic job of hooking the kids — they can’t wait. And if they hook the kids? The parents GOTTA take them!”
Lopez isn’t alone in thinking the trailer is bad. The trailer is so bad (in some people’s opinion - I’m not saying either way) that the New York Times actually wrote about its awfulness. It’s even so bad (again, in some people’s opinion) that it’s spawned a whole series of YouTube reaction videos.
Far be it for me to pass judgment on what could, in fact, be the “greatest chihuahua movie of all time.” Judge for yourself.
