USA Today posted some killer photos from the upcoming potential masterpiece, The Road, starring Viggo Mortensen, Kodi Smit-McPhee and Charlize Theron.
They dub these the first official photos, but of course we showed you this one of McPhee and this one of Viggo/McPhee back in May. But now we get one of Theron who plays the wife, and Michael K. Williams who is a thief in the movie. The shots are bleak and desperate looking, which is exactly what you’d expect from the subject matter in this film.
I really cannot begin to tell you how excited I am for this movie. I know I’ve said that many, many times, but I can’t help myself. It’s based off one of my favorite books of all-time (Cormac McCarthy, The Road) and the casting of Mortensen was so spot-on it’s scary.
There is no way that this thing isn’t a masterpiece. The early buzz is “Oscar”, but of course it’s too soon for that. But it’s hard to imagine that The Road wont be one of the best films of the year.
It’s out on November 26th and these photos below will get your heart pounding for this movie. I’m just dying for a trailer now. Or even a teaser. Give me something!

From the pics it looks pretty true to the story and won't expand the storyline too much if you catch my drift.
Those look creepy. I need to read this book before the movie comes out… ugh.
Looks just like I pictured it….dreary, creepy, depressing. If this holds it will be a great movie.
I'm still only 1/2 through the novel. Is the catastrophe ever explained? I watched a show on the Discover channel about the eruption of a supervolcano and then read the book… the descriptions sound just like it, and the photos look like it too.
You can read the book in like a couple of hours tops.
I don't think they ever really explained. I can't remember for sure.
It's not THAT short, good grief
No…not much at all is explained.
I don't know. It's short and the print is huge. I read it in maybe a couple of hours.
Viggo looks old and beat up. I thought he was Kris Kristofferson for a minute there…
