Today you’re getting a double-dose of my Fall TV Preview. Sunday has been posted and now it’s time for the jammed packed Monday night.
At least, it’s jammed packed over in my house. There is almost too much on to record, so thank the DVR gods that we have two of those fancy recording machines to make sure we don’t miss a single episode of our favorite series.
And with so much on the slate for today, let’s get right to it.
Fall TV Preview – Monday
The list below is broken up into Mike’s Season Passes, Pilots I Like and The Rest. The Rest will include current shows and new pilots that I don’t have any real intentions of watching.
The premiere date and network will be noted next to each in parenthesis. It doesn’t get much easier than that!
Mike’s Season Passes
Gossip Girl (September 1st, The CW)
I get grief for watching a chick show, but the fact remains that Gossip Girl is one of the more entertaining series out there if you get into this sort of thing. The cast is sexy, and the writing funny and clever. The second season starts off in the Hamptons and who knows what might happen!
One Tree Hill (September 1st, The CW)
As I’ve written before, this was another series we caught up on this summer and completely fell in love with. Yeah, it’s not the greatest show on television, but at least it’s good for what it tries to be. And that’s all you can ask for.
The big, looming question that will hopefully be answered on September 1st: Who the heck did Lucas call? Inquiring minds (mine!) want to know.
I hope it’s Peyton.
Prison Break (September 1st, FOX)
The escapees Lincoln and Michael are back in the fourth season of Prison Break. If you think back to the very first episode, it was all about busting Lincoln out of prison because he was framed for the crime that got him there.
And since then, they’ve done nothing but break every law there is and probably deserve to be back behind bars. Irony raises its funny head.
Oh, and Sara returns this year, with head intact.
Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles (September 8th, FOX)
This series based on the time period between Terminator 3 and the upcoming Terminator Salvation, really gathered steam about mid-way through the year. Now we’ll rejoin the group after Cameron has been blown up from a car bomb meant for John Connor.
She’s a terminator, so she can’t really be damaged right? Think again.
I’ve already written a recap for the first hour of the season premiere, which I believe will actually be two hours long, or at least a double-episode. And if you read it or heard at all what I’ve had to say about the upcoming season entitled “Villains”, then you know it’s all been good.
Tim Kring has created a premiere episode that regains the glory and action from season one and leaves you with surprises and shocking turns of events that will leave your jaw on the floor.
Chuck (September 29th, NBC)
Again, here’s a show that wasn’t necessarily the greatest on television, but it’s still a blast to watch. Zachary Levi, who plays Chuck, is the sole reason the show is so much fun. Well, he and Adam Baldwin. The series wouldn’t work without the comedic talents of a guy like Levi.
After Comic Con I gave you guys a pretty detailed preview up the upcoming season, which you can read right here. It’s chock full of the Chuck and Sarah romance, along with some awesome guest appearances.
***Special Note***
While Life will be moving to Friday nights, the first two weeks will be seen on Monday after Heroes starting on September 29th. But we’ll talk more about Life on Friday.
Pilots I Like
My Own Worst Enemy (September 29th, NBC)
This Christian Slater dual-identity action-drama could have potential, but I’m not holding my breath. Despite some cool looking previews, I have my doubts. It IS Slater after all, and I just don’t know if he’s cut out to carry a network series.
But the premise is interesting, in the same way Alias‘ was. However, I’d rather be watching Jennifer Garner again instead of Christian.
Now I miss Alias.
The Rest

- Big Bang Theory (Sep 22, CBS)

Wow! Monday nights are crazy… not to mention that the Hills is already on. They should just rename the night to guilty pleasure TV watching night. At least we have the rest of the week to catch up on what is taped on Monday nights.
I love the re-cap for the Fall line-up! It is amazing! I can't wait for Samantha Who to come back on the air in October!!! If you are missing the show as much as me you can totally check out this awesome video at:

It is so funny!!!
“While Life will be moving to Friday nights, the first two weeks will be seen on Monday after Heroes starting on September 29th. But we’ll talk more about Life on Friday.”…
I have no idea how series lose viewers…
Seriously, I agree with you…plus Friday night is the kiss of death for
shows…ugh.
I hope it's a good season and gets a third, I love this show.
Thanks! Haven't seen Samantha Who yet, but I will try to check out that video later.
And for us football fans, there's also Monday Night Football on ESPN from September through December. Too much good stuff on TV on Mondays!
Gee Mike MNF not even listed, hmmm, but Gossip Girl and One Tree Hill first. Not that there is anything wrong with that, just interesting.
Ah, good point
I guess that is sports and not totally related to a series, but you are right…I guess.
So how long have you subscribed to Teen Beat magazine or whatever it is teenage girls read?
I never even heard of Teen Beat, interesting that you know it.
Thats ah spicy meatballa.
I missed Sarah Connor last season as well as the reruns they've been showing so I don't know if I'll catch it or not. I'll probably put Heroes back on the list, but all of your other Monday shows are Must Not See for me.
CBS has a great comedy lineup on Monday nights. How I Met Your Mother has become one of my favorite shows.
Sorry Mike…
Now that Dadofiandi has let the cat out of the bag, I'll go ahead and state, for the record, that adding/listing: 1. Gossip Girl (young adult angst, i.e. The OC), 2. One Tree Hill (never seen, but heard it's a really bad young adult soap opera, but now with more added angst) and 3. Prison Break (come on, the show should've ended after breaking out of the first prison!) to your season pass is a questionable decision at best.
Personally, I'll stick with MNF, then watch Chuck (goofy fun), Heroes (supposedly back with a vengeance) and Sarah Connor (can’t resist any sci-fi in prime time) while checking out the potential for My Own Worst Enemy on maybe a one day DVR delay.
Oh, and HIMYM of course… just to ensure I have at least one Monday half-hour sit com on the list.
No need to apologize, to each his own
The only thing I'll say is that you are dismissing GG and OTH without ever really watching them, so you can't really comment on how “good” they are, but yes, teen angst and stuff, although OTH is set after college now, so it's more early 20's than anything.
But, with all the serious and great dramas out there, like Lost, BSG, etc., sometimes some escapism is good. And reality TV isn't my answer, so these kind of shows provide it.
I will state for the record that GG isn't something I make a point to see every week. In fact, with Monday's being so busy with Sarah Connor and Heroes, I'll likely be writing recaps for those while the wife watches GG and OTH.
Prison Break…egh, I know it sucks, but as I've stated before: I'm invested…
