I’m a huge fan of good, quality television. Shows like Lost, Battlestar Galactica and 30 Rock are examples of just how great TV can be when smart people put their heads together.
And then you have those guilty pleasure shows that just appeal to the inner-you, for whatever reason. I’ve had a ton of those in recent years, such as Felicity, Gilmore Girls, The O.C. and now One Tree Hill.
That isn’t to say these aren’t good shows and smart people aren’t behind them. I think they are. But most wouldn’t consider them in the upper echelons of quality television.
But there is something about One Tree Hill that hooked me right from the start. At least, the start being about eight episodes into season 1, which is when I joined in my wife’s marathon to catch up with the series.
It’s good fun, has a unique plot in the way two brothers relate to their hated father and naturally, there are a lot of good looking people acting behind all these characters.
In fact, the show did something completely out of the ordinary and jumped forward FOUR YEARS after these kids graduated from high school. That was a pretty gutsy move, something that Battlestar Galactica also pulled off not too long ago.
Definitely a guilty pleasure, but it’s also got some good things about it. And I can’t wait for the sixth season, which begins on September 1st, which is just a few weeks away.
And we have pictures to show you from that first episode, so brace yourself for a lot of Skills making out with Deb.
I’m just bummed there aren’t any of Peyton or Lucas. I sooooo want to know who he friggin’ called!!!
(of course, perhaps we only see Brook because Lucas picked Peyton or Lindsey)

I hope the plot moves quicker this year. Season 5 was great but it was a little slow. And they really REALLY need to get rid of Dan. They are just dragging his storyline out way too much. He should have died back in season 3 or went to jail in the beginning half of season 4. I hate the guy. There is no redeeming his character after what he did to Keith. I would like to see Deb and Lucas' mom hang out again. They were always funny together. Or just more funny Deb would be nice. She's hilarious. Don't really care who Lucas picks anymore. If they're being predictable, we all know it's Payton. If they want to be different, it will be Brooke. And if they want to do a twister, say no one showed up for him so we'll never know. Or make it a dream. lol
The third season was the best. I hope they return to that with Haley singing again and all that.
You watch Supernatural? They have the first 5 minutes of season 4 online, looks awesome.

I'm much too far behind on Supernatural…I saw the first season and then missed the rest of them. I think the main reason was that Thursday nights were too packed with stuff, so I didn't get to even DVR it.
Now I have two, so that should be easier
I agree, I hate Brook's mom, she's annoying as hell. But I still like Dan and he's been one of the best parts of the show. One of the more evil guys on TV…always ruthless and bad, no matter how much people try to change him.
The one with Skills and Deb in the pool looks like she's missing her top. Hope Jamie isn't around.
