Release Date For The Time Traveler’s Wife

“The Time Traveler’s Wife” by Audrey Niffenegger is one of the best books I’ve read in the past several years. I was completely excited to hear they were making it into a movie and I’ve been anxiously awaiting the adaptation ever since. Now, finally, we know the release date.

The film, starring Eric Bana, Rachel McAdams, and Ron Livingston was originally supposed to come out this summer. Then it was pulled from the schedule and most of us thought it wouldn’t be out until next year. Now we know that The Time Traveler’s Wife will be released on December 25, 2008. I know what I’m doing on Christmas Day this year.

The Time Traveler’s Wife is an unconventional love story that centers on a man with a strange genetic disorder that causes him to unpredictably time-travel, and his wife, an artist who has to cope with his frequent absences and dangerous experiences. It’s also about their life together told in a sort of non-linear fashion. I highly recommend this book to everyone.

Are you a fan? Are you excited about the adaptation or are you afraid they’ll just ruin it like so many other books before?

  1. I really need to finish reading the book…definitely going to be seeing this one.

  2. Man, you haven't finished it yet? Well, I guess everyone can't love it as much as me.

  3. Sorry, I had this little thing called “COMIC BOOK OBSESSION” come in the middle of me and TTW :)

  4. Yes, more time-traveling movies. I love time traveling stories, it makes my imagination, logic, my whole brain spin (and ache), trying to understand the writer's concept of time travel and think if it's possible 'that way'.

    :)

I better find this book here in the Philippines. thanks!

  5. This is a great book… and I am totally looking forward to the movie. Christmas Day is awesome!

  6. OH MY GOD! OH MY GOD! OH MY GOD! OH MY GOD! OH MY GOD! OH MY GOD!

    (I'm excited.) =D

  7. So knowing nothing about this book/movie, is it as close to Journeyman as it sounds?

  8. Really looking forward to this flick. My only concern is whether Rachel McAdams has the acting chops to pull off this role.

Gretchen Egolf was so good with this type of character in Journeyman. She could do more with one look or expression to convey the moment or an emotion than any line of dialog.

  9. Better.

  10. Yeah, nothing against Journeyman since I was a big fan and I was incredibly upset when it got canceled, but this book is so much better. It's a must read.

  11. I am SO excited. I read this book when it was first released and have been anticipating the movie since it was first announced. I have not searched for a release date for quite some time now, I almost gave up on it. I will be in the theater on the 26th for sure.

  12. I don’t think it will be out this year :( There’s been a tremendous lack of news and now imdb.com has changed the status to being completed, but it looks like it won’t be out till next year…the waiting is driving me crazy!
