Music is a weird thing for me. Sometimes I can’t get enough of it, and then on other occasions I don’t turn my iPod on for weeks and instead listen to the radio or something cool on XM.
Right now, I’ve become addicted to two stand-up comedy channels on XM, which completely entertain me on the daily commute.
However, I did hear a band the other night that I kind of fell in love with, and it got me to thinking about what music or bands I had been listening to lately, because the list was short.
And that’s the Friday Question:
What band or type of music have you been listening to lately?
I watch David Letterman every afternoon, having DVR-ed the previous night’s episode, and earlier this week he had on We Are Scientists who performed Impatience.
I totally dug the song and immediately went to iTunes to download a copy. I am enjoying them so much, I’m likely going to get their entire new album, Brain Trust Mastery.
What about you guys? Listening to any good music or bands lately?
Or have you been listening to any good radio talk shows?

I'm the same way when it comes to music. Some days I'm into it and some days, I could care less. I'm usually more into the mainstream stuff but every once and a while, I will stumble upon some good (non-mainstream) music. I'm into pretty much anything that sounds good (to me). Although, I'm not really into country or too much rap. Mostly rock. Lately, I've been listening to Trading Yesterday, Secondhand Serenade, and Gavin Rossdale.
We Are Scientists reminds me a little bit of The Killers.
Definitely sounds like The Killers, which is probably why I like them.
You are pretty much just like me when it comes to music. if it sounds good to me, I like it. Although I do like country at times, I never buy any country music…I'll just listen on the radio.
But no rap…just can't get into that.
I finally got into rap when the big wave of mashups started a few years ago. DJ Dangermouse's “Grey Album” (a mashup of The Beatles' “White Album” and Jay Z's “Black Album”) and the Kleptones' “A Night at the Hip-Hopera” came first, then I started listening to a little more hiphop than I had before (the Beasties notwithstanding.)
Otherwise, I'm all over the place. Showtunes, '80s alternative, punk. Speaking or mashups, in the car right now I've got Dean Gray's awesome “American Edit”.
You cant have crap without rap…
at least thats what my daughter always says….
Don't you see that's a trap?
Strap right in and wrap your head around
Kids sit rapt to the urban sound
Rapid-fire rhymes and hooks that grapple
Enjoy it all with a tall grape Snapple.
Thats just gangsta talk now…. =)
At home the only music I listen to is the Kid's Tunes station on my satellite while watching my 14 month old groove. …I know, I know.
I usually listen to sports radio, although satellite is nice, they play the same artists alot. check out hypem.com its an mp3 blog aggregator, you can find lots of stuff there, like we are scientists, the black kids, all that indie stuff. most rap on the radio is terrible but blackalicious, the roots, and outkast, c-lo (1/2 of gnarls barkley), common are good. Any everybody likes at least one John Denver, Johhny Cash, Hank Williams, or Hank III song so don't lie.
since we've been going through a really hard time with baby Claire in the NICU, i've been listening to Shawn McDonald, DCB and Phil Wickham on the way to the hospital to keep me sane and full of hope.
but normally i like everything but country.
A couple of bands I've cycling through are Bloc Party and the Myriad.
I love Bloc Party… what a great band.
