Most of you know that I’m a humongous Michael Cera fan. The guy wasn’t the star of Juno, but he was one of the best parts of the movie, and we all remember how friggin’ hilarious he was in Superbad and also Arrested Development.
It looks like Cera is finally getting that starring role in a romantic comedy and it looks very, very promising.
Actually, I’m not sure it’s really a romantic comedy, even if it does appear to be that way. From what I can tell, this isn’t going to be your stereotypical formulaic young love movie.
Cera stars as a Nick, a sensitive member of a band who takes “mental health days” instead of playing gigs. His girlfriend Tris (Alexis Dziena) dumps him (on his birthday) and he looks a bit sad.
Norah (Kat Dennings) on the other hand, is more confident, plays by the rules, but is also single. Instead of telling her friends that she’s again without a date, she asks Nick to pretend to be her boyfriend for five minutes.
Too bad she doesn’t know that Nick is Tris’s ex!
From there, you’d expect this to go a certain direction. But as you can tell from the trailer, this has more of a Superbad feel to it where a lot of stuff happens over the course of one night, instead of a long, drawn out love story that we typically get.
All of this leads me to believe that this could be an awesome movie. The trailer made me laugh, especially the exchange about the “dentist.” I also love the “Infinite Playlist” part of the title, because with Cera involved, this movie is likely to have one killer soundtrack.
The movie is written by two authors who penned a novel of the same name. Really looking forward to this one. It’s out on October 3rd. Watch the trailer below and then you can see the poster after.

It looks really cute. Plus, I have a vaguely creepy crush on Kat Dennings.
You used the word 'cute'…one I avoided to describe this movie but
only because I was to much of a puss
I also think I have a crush…on Cera…
This looks pretty good. I have a hard time seeing Cera as a romantic lead. I think the fight between him and the other skinny dude will be funny. Aren't Nick and Norah names of soap opera love birds? No, wait. That's Luke and Laura. lol. …Nevermind…
They're presumably named for Nick and Nora Charles.
The Thin Man?
Unless the names were arbitrarily chosen, and that just doesn't seem likely.
Looks pretty funny. I'll definitely go see it.
I initially d/l Superbad because I thought it was going to be a super bad movie with a couple funny moments but it was so good that I bought it and I got one for my friend. This looks really good so I'll probably end up buying this too. I also like Kat Dennings. I would love for a girl to just take charge like that. I find that extremely hot.
