I’ve always been a fan of Kevin Smith’s, although at Comic-Con this year I felt he hijacked the Battlestar Galactica panel a bit, but regardless, I value his opinion on all things entertainment. He has great taste and usually when he likes a show, a movie or an idea, it’s right on the money.
Which is why it’s awesome to hear what he thinks of Watchmen. He’s already seen it, I’m jealous, but at least the word is good. Via Alex at First Showing, we get this:
“I saw Watchmen. It’s [expletive] astounding. The Non-Disclosure Agreement I signed prevents me from saying much, but I can spout the following with complete joygasmic enthusiasm: Snyder and Co. have pulled it off. Remember that feeling of watching Sin City on the big screen and being blown away by what a faithful translation of the source material it was, in terms of both content and visuals? Triple that, and you’ll come close to watching Watchmen. Even Alan Moore might be surprised at how close the movie is to the book. March can’t come soon enough.”
Alan Moore is the other writer/creator of Watchmen, the original comic series, and wont have anything to do with the movie version of his beloved story. It would be awesome for him to see it someday and nod his head in approval.
Smith’s high praise, even saying it’s “triple” what Sin City was, is just super, super news. I’ve not been as worried as others, maybe because my faith in superhero movies has been strengthened as of late with Iron Man, The Incredible Hulk and of course The Dark Knight.
And when I saw the first trailer, I was blown away as how great it looked and how much it reminded me of the graphic novel, which is a tribute to Zach Snyder’s interpretation of what is on those pages.
But with Smith saying they’ve “pulled it off”, I can totally relax now. My only stress or worry comes when I think about having to wait until frakking March 6th, 2009 to see the dang thing!
And now I leave you with three new photos from the movie itself. Enjoy!

[...] the original graphic novel, and if anyone deserves to make it, they do. Especially because from what is being said, they’ve succeeded in making it into a great film anyways, something no one else even want to [...]
According to an interview on GameTrailers with David Hayter of video game Metal Gear Solid fame, Alan Moore expressed great satisfaction with Hayter's script for the movie adaption upon reading it. He praised it in all sorts of ways, though I can't remember the exact wording of it.
So there's definitely something for him and us to look forward to.
Awesome, good to know!
I think David Hayter did a superb job and should be thanked. Watchmen is one of those films you have to see. So if you haven’t, go see it!!
