According to the previews, the Gossip Girl season two premiere promised to be sizzling. While we may have seen sparks fly, it was anything short of a fireworks display. Of course things always heat up the summer, and it seemed no different in the Hamptons.
Nate and Serena spent the summer deceiving everyone by letting them believe they were a couple. Nate used Serena as a cover up, while he engaged in a summer fling with a married older woman. And Serena used Nate, while she spent the summer mourning her break-up with Dan.
Blair returned from abroad with a hot new boy on her arm, ready to do what she does best, use and abuse. It wasn’t long before a very jealous Chuck was scheming to reveal the truth about her new boy. Unfortunately, he never got the chance and Blair couldn’t get the one thing she wanted from Chuck; him to profess his love for her.
After spending the summer interning for a famous author and playing the field, a broken hearted Dan fled to the Hamptons to try to restore his broken hearted relationship with Serena. After the dramatic way things ended between them last season, this reunion fell flat. One can only hope that things will heat up between them; for the good or bad.
And of course, little Jenny manages to make peace with Eric, in order to get an invite to the very elite Hampton’s White Party. She has spent the summer interning for Eleanor Waldorf’s company, and wants the chance to prove she has what it takes to be a great fashion designer. If we thought she was done trying to climb the social ladder last season, we may be in for a big surprise.
This season of Gossip Girl has to the potential to take off like a raging fire, or dwindle like a burning ember. The premiere started off as a flicker of drama between the cast, lets just hope there is enough new storyline to make it ignite.

As always though, there were great one-liners sprinkled in throughout the episode – like “Damn that motherchucker”. Blair (and the elusive Gossip Girl) always seem to get the best lines.
Thanks for the recap, Julie, and welcome!
Chuck Basstard!
Hilarious stuff…the writing on GG is always clever.

Blair is my favorite character by far. The season premiere (nor the rest of the season thusfar) did not disappoint!
