This wasn't an exciting episode, but several plot elements were moved forward, so it was a good, solid one story-wise.

It was fun to watch 01 and Julius interact again, and one wonders about the future of their relationship now they both know that each wants the link to stay down.

It was interesting to see the Faith element introduced. One would think that organized religion wouldn't exist in Charlie's world, as the corporations would have no use for them and see them as a potential threat. I wonder if this will be looked at again in future episodes.

Richard, I finally got around to watching this ep.

I never even considered the idea that 01 gave Reena the bomb. Now, after the last episode, it does make some sense (even though in the pilot, I remember the bomb being given to her by her friend/lover?/accomplice in Gamma).

I was a little surprised how aggressive and competent programmed-Reena was in dispatching Porter, the other guy and with her fighting skills against Charlie once exposed. I didn't think they had trained her so thoroughly. Shooting a gun at someone and essentially being a human bomb, yes. Complex and physical hand-to-hand combat, no… I don't recall seeing that training. Could it be there is something else coming into play with Reena's personality? She was so meek and frightened once she found herself in Beta. Now she’s as cunning, methodical and lethal as Jason Bourne. Did all of this happen during the torture and brain washing/programming process? I wonder.

The men in gray suits are a bit of a mystery. But as you point out Richard, if they are from a fourth verse even more advanced than Alpha, then anything is possible with these guys, huh. I wish I had time to listen to the podcasts.

I also enjoyed the Princess video shoot. Just to see the usually very serious and stern Essa Rompkin act differently for a few seconds was a hoot. That must have been a fun scene to film.

Lastly, I really liked the way they filmed and edited the short scene with Reena and Charlie as they exchanged small pieces of personal info just before her programming kicked in. The change in setting/scenery as Reena spoke about her home was very well done.

PS – If I was walking down an alley and saw actor Michael Filipowich coming towards me, I'd run in the opposite direction. Very fast. That's how psycho scary that dude seems to me.

My take was that 01 had given the bomb to the two of them.

I can agree that 01 gave the bomb to Reena and her boy. Makes sense with all the hero worship she has for 01.

As for the bomb in the board room, my take was that the men in gray put it there. It's not Alpha, Beta or Gamma tech. . .and 01 hasn't displayed any tech beyond these verses that I know about.

A detail I never though much about until watching this episode the other night: The water in the church disappearing after Charlie dips his fingers into it. Could be a red herring that the writers through in there more for dramatic effect than anything, but. . . =b

Watch the end of “Through a Mirror Darkly” again. Or better still, watch while listening to Denis McGrath's commentary. There's a shot, unfortunately they cut to it late, of Reena planting the bomb. I think the writers were trying to imply that the guys who kidnapped and tortured her were working with/for the gray suits.

Let's remember that Reena was pretty mousy back in Gamma, too. My take on those early scenes were that she was very unsure of this — it was her guy who was gung-ho.

But where's the admiration for 01 come from? I vaguely remember a little something back there, but don't remember the specifics. What ep was that in?

I loved Charlie and Reena together, but thought it was a little staged. Yeah, we'll sit here and wait to see how many Vexcor teams show up while we exchange information. Gotta say, tho, great actress — Patricia McKenzie did a great job of the personality transition from nice, passive Reena to highly-programmed Reena when Charlie pushed her.

Another reason to love Charlie Jade: my monitor died, ran out to buy a new one before the stores closed Sunday.

I used segments of Charlie Jade to adjust the color.

LOVED the podcast with Robert Wertheimer about how they got those different color washes in Alpha, Beta, and Gamma, BTW.
