It was somewhat slow compared to the fast and furious pace of the last few episodes.

At first I thought what was lacking was the manic intensity of 01 Boxer, who was completely absent in this ep. Based on that, I kinda surmised that perhaps while Charlie is the shows main narrative and everything unfolds around his character, 01 is the fire that really heats thing up, storytelling wise. While Charlie can be a force, his approach is much more methodical, deliberate and somewhat low-key.

Now, after reading your recap Richard, I realize that this was a Charlie-centric episode and while we still were exposed to plot movement and character development via Blues Paddock, it was done in an incredibly subtle manner.

    Interesting how that is.

    Final thoughts:

    - Yes, I too have a little crush on Rolanda Marais. I have a difficult time seeing how anyone would want leave a woman like Blues the next morning. Hell, she even cooked breakfast.

    - It appears we have a new baddie in Shikari. She looks like a handful.

    - Lastly, I wonder how many little scenes/shots in the show have been edited out by Sci-Fi (or just the ‘uptight’ U.S. vs. the international version of Charlie Jade). Last week you mentioned 01 “relieving himself” on Porter. That shot never made into the version I saw on Sci-Fi, even though it’s airing at 3am in the morning. Which leads me to wonder about what else we have been deprived of? What else has been cut out for time or, more likely, content considerations? Ugh.

You know, other than some music cues getting changed, it didn't occur to me that SciFi would be cutting things out. It should have, but for some reason didn't. Since I'm writing these based on the copies I have, I should probably take that into account. Like, I'm sure SciFi's cutting out the occasional obscenities.

I would eat Rolanda's eggs anytime, even if her bread was stale and she didn't have toast.
