No, Alan Dale didn’t get arrested for drunk driving like some past cast members who ended up getting offed soon thereafter.
But the man who plays the mysterious Charles Widmore on Lost may have done something equally damaging in the eyes of fans and possibly the show’s producers.
Digital Spy did an interview with Dale before he left for Hawaii to begin shooting the fifth season, where production starts shortly. When asked a question about whether he’s invested in the show, or follows all the twists and turns, his answer was astounding:
“Truthfully, no. I know as much as anyone else, but I don’t even know as much as you because I got sick of it. It went through a lull in scripts in the third season. At that point I felt like I had watched them wandering in a line through the forests a bit sweaty for the 1000th time. I thought ‘I can’t watch this anymore’. Then out of the bushes came a black cloud, which grabbed a black man and threw him to the ground, and I thought ‘I definitely can’t watch this anymore’.”
Yowsers. He saw the smoke monster and that made the show even worse for him?
I’m speculating a lot on whether the creators and producers of the show will even care about this. There hasn’t been word either way. But you have to wonder what they think about one of the main actors in the overall mythology of the show basically telling a reporter that he “got sick of it.”
What do you guys think? Is this a big deal? Will he be dead soon?

Wow… I really like him on the show, but I think people should appreciate what they have… and it makes me sad when they don't. Who knows what they will do, but having the smoke monster kill him because he didn't respect the island would be awesome!

His comments seem very ungrateful, but also disrespectful. Why would someone “bash” their own show like that? Maybe he can't get out of character? It seems a very “Whitmore” type thing to say.

Remember in Ben’s flashforward when he went to Charles’ Penthouse Suite? He closed the door behind him. What if he gets frustrated and upset about Alex before he gets on the elevator, turns back, opens the door and empties his gun on the poor dumbass Charles whom is sleeping under the blanket?
They won’t even have to hire him or have his miserable ass near the cast.
