Just in case you forgot, tonight marks the debut of the first of three Saturday Night Live primetime specials, which will lead up to the November 4th election.
They are supposedly taking the form of extended Weekend Update sketches, which makes me happy because that’s really my favorite part of the normal Saturday Night Live.
These are guaranteed to have a lot of political skits, and there is even a rumor going around that Sarah Palin could make an appearance tonight, or at least at some point.
People have been pointing out that these extra shows are going to wreak havoc on the writers as they put their pens into overdrive, which may be something we’ve already experienced this season. Despite high ratings (mainly because of Tina Fey’s portrayal of Palin), the sketches and writing so far have been downright awful. I’ve gotten to the point where I zone out after Fey starts the show, then wake up around Weekend Update, then I go to bed.
So I’m not even sure how great tonight will be, but you know I’ll be watching.
