For those of us Star Trek fans who have been waiting with baited breath for anything related to the upcoming movie being released based on the long-running franchise, we finally get an official trailer.
The preview ran on the Quantum of Solace showings this weekend, and while this is a bootlegged version, we’ll try to get you the official one the second it’s released.
Watch the trailer, then check out the shot of the USS Enterprise below, which also came out in the past week or two.
Here’s the first shot of the new Enterprise:
What do you guys think of the new ship? I like it, but I usually love seeing old designs re-imagined, so I don’t care too much.

That looks fantastic! I can’t wait to see it.
Yeah, I can’t believe they pushed this movie back six months. Now we have to wait until Summer ‘09.
Ya know the HD version is on Apple movie trailers site, and HD is wayyyy better than youtube… =)
Saw this on Apple HD today and am officially excited. Hopefully this does for Star Trek what Batman Begins did for Batman.
Absolutely love the trailer.
I remember growing up on those old original star treks, with Bill Shatner “over-acting” his lines.
Classic TV! Gene Roddenbury was a genius
Maybe this is a NEW Star Trek for a whole new generation of kids and young adults to grow up and older with for the next 40 years, but this is not MY Star Trek. The ship is not the Enterprise, the uniforms are all wrong for the time frame they’re supposed to be in, and the interiors are huge compared to the Original Series. It would be fine if this were set in the future of Next Generation, with the descendants of Kirk, Spock, et.al., but this retroactively eliminates the canon of Star Trek as we know it, specifically Pike’s Enterprise, the bridge as it was when Kirk was early in his command, the uniforms, weapons, etc. J.J. Abrams may mean well, and it may be a very good sci-fi film, but it’s not Star Trek as established by over 40 years of continuity. Talk about love’s labor lost! J.J., what were you thinking (aside from seeing dollar signs)? Thank God for Tim Russ and Sky Conway’s “fan”film, Star Trek: Of Gods & Men! At the very least, it’s Star Trek as I remember it.
