I just picked up the two-disc special edition of The Dark Knight yesterday and have been trying to find a chance to sit down and watch it.
I’m sure many of you have watched this in the theater, but this is one movie worth purchasing. And, I can say that without having watched the DVD version yet. I can say that even after having watched a cam-recorded version during my stay in South Korea.
If you haven’t watched this movie at all, then you can quit reading at this point, head over to a local shop, and put down a few dollars for this release.
You won’t be disappointed.
Why you should be watching
Director Christopher Nolan has brought Batman back from the depths of the Hollywood Tomb-of-Shame. His first take on Batman Begins was something many of us have waited years to see, but his follow-up is even better.
The Dark Knight is arguably one of the best superhero movies of all time.
What more do you need in a movie than massive amounts of action, a dark hero, a purely evil villain, another villain of circumstance, and a little romance on the side?
I’m sure you’ve all heard this before, but Heath Ledger’s performance as The Joker was the best performance of his lifetime.
Any other picks this week?
I honestly wouldn’t care if not another movie came out all week. The Dark Knight is good enough to curb my movie addiction for a while.
I picked up Wanted with James McAvoy, Morgan Freeman, and Angelina Jolie yesterday as well. It was released last week, but it’s worth watching. I’d suggest at least picking up the rental.

One of my favorite movies of all time!! I rented it at midnight on Monday from RedBox and watched it again yesterday. I’m headed to Costco right now to pick up the DVD — I’m looking forward to checking out all the extras.
I’m waiting for my sister to finish taking a final exam (online college), then I’m popping it in the DVD player.
Oh yeah… for those of you haven’t checked out Christian Bale in The Machinist, you must do so!! I think Bale is arguably one on the best actors out there.
This movie is spinetingling. Heath Ledger really stepped past the line of mental safety when he went into his role.
Yeah I asked Mike O if I could borrow his copy on Tues night and he never got back to me the bastard. Anyway I have yet to watch a full blu-ray movie yet, saw parts of Nightmare BC and it looked incredible so this will be doubly good esp the IMAX stuff.
I’d argue his best performance was in Lord of Dogtown, but I doubt more then a dozen people saw that movie.
And the must see movie released on DVD this week was Man on Wire.
I actually have Lords of Dogtown on DVD, just sitting there on my shelf, but I’ve never actually watched it.
I’ll have to check out Man on Wire. It’s been a while since I’ve seen a good documentary.
Can’t say that I like Batman, but all in all this film is well done, and has great effects, but I’m not a Batman fan, I’ve never liked the stories, and maybe I don’t like that genre.
The lastest Batman movies are not good, the stories is poor, and the Christian Bale its not my favorite …. but about effects, no comments… perfect, but special effects don’t make you watch the film again.
The stories are poor? You may be the first person I’ve ever heard say that. It’s the great stories that have made the new Batman movies actually worth watching.
Unfortunately I was quite disappointed with “The Dark Knight” as it appeared that Batman was nowhere near as “dark” as he was in “Batman Begins”.
Being the “dark” knight I had presupposed that Batman would be willing to do whatever it takes to get the job done ( as he had been in Batman Begins) and a la Jack Bauer.
However, this was not the case – too much of the moralistic attitude of I had better wound the bad guy rather than kill him for my liking – if the guy is supposed to be dark then let’s make him dark.
Yeah it’s a great movie i guess. Perfect special effects and a well done story. Hope there are soon more films like this. Really loved to watch this movie and I could watch it again and again.
The greatest Batman movie ever and also one of the best movies I have seen.
I can improve the performance of the actors only praise, special the performance of as Joker. It’s too bad about Heath Ledger (a great actor), but I think it was a good ending of his career. So I will watch thie move a few times yet.
The Dark Knight is an astounding movie indeed, but Christian Bale hasn’t sat in this role as well as Michael Keaton. Bale’s Batman guise is somewhat grating at times, but The Joker MORE than makes up for it. Keep up the good work on the blog.
This movie is without a doubt one of the best movies of 2008. At first I didn’t really want to see it as I didn’t care much for the previous Batman movies. I’m not really a fan of Batman so I had absolutely no expectations when I saw The Dark Knight.
It was AWESOME! I normally don’t see movies twice but I’ll definitely be seeing this one again.
I can’t agree more! I absolutely LOVE “The Dark Knight” DVD, it is among my very favorite of all time. The two-disk SE rocks!
Great film. Such a waste to lose Heath Ledger so young though.
the background music was amazing .
Great film. I didn’t watch the previous batman movies as they seemed a bit dull and boring, BUT this one is totally awesome. Especially how they showed the conflict between joker and batman with joker commenting that he and batman are destined together as batman cannot do “the righteous kill”……….simply awesome.
Too bad we lost Heath Ledger, I doubt anyone will be able to bring joker to life like he did.
My peek for this week is-
Fast & furious (latest) and The Reader
I agree 100%. Probably one of the best series ever. Certainly better than the original Batman series with Keaton, Kilmer, and Clooney.
Nice good addition.
