Try as I might, it seems the universe is destined to keep me watching 24.
I gave it up last season, around midway point, only to come back for the finale and groan. I hadn’t missed much and the fact that the President’s daughter suddenly was acting Chief of Staff was confirmation enough that I had made a good decision.
The show has lacked imagination the last few years and refuses to change its ways to make the storylines more interesting.
Fast forward to yesterday and the breaking news that Starbuck herself, Katee Sackhoff, will be joining the cast next season. Looks like I wont be going anywhere, 24.
To quote Jim Halpert: “Congrats universe, you win.”
Sackhoff (last seen in Battlestar Galactica, may you rest in peace…we miss you already) will be playing Dana Walsh, a smart and competent expert data analyst at CTU with a secret past who is involved with CTU agent Davis Cole.
Cole is played by…umm….Freddie Prinze Jr., which is enough of a reason NOT to watch 24 that it almost cancels out the awesomeness of Sackhoff joining.
What about the fans out there? Do you watch 24 still? Does Katee Sackhoff joining make it more appealing?
7 seasons on the mighty Javck baeur…. 7 was the worst. Jack Baeur contracted an incurable viral pathogen…ooohhh wait … Kiefer just signed for season 8!?!?! He’s CURED!!… Really bad writing this last season.
season 8… I’ll be there. The addition of Starbuck solidified it, though there is this auto repulsing magnent of Freddie Prinze jr. trying everything in its power to make me not turn in. Though I dont see her as a data analyst behind the desk, $10 bucks says shes in the field kick’n some frakkin arse before the season is over!!!
I made it about 3/4s of the way through season 7. At some point, I suppose I’ll finish it out just to see what happened. Starbuck is definitely enough to make me tune in for season 8.
With Starbuck as a data analyst there better be some heavy drinkin’ to counter act it.

maybe her deep dark secret is shes really Kim all growed up and she doesnt want that out… or maybe shes secretly Megatron in disguise…. or maybe her deep dark secret is boxers, not briefs..
There was never a doubt – I was going to watch 24 next year either way.
Katee Sackhoff is an eye-candy type treat for sure, but there would have been some beautiful, capable, woman on the show regardless.
But last season I loved actually… More twists and turns than a four-dimensional letter “S”
Heck yeh, I watch 24. Who doesn’t? But seriously. You are right when you say the show lacks imagination and needs to change its ways if it wants to last. It kind of makes you question, does it want to last? It needs a fresh slap of reality. Storylines that get the attention of watcher.
I stopped watching 24 a while ago…. but yeah when I heard that Starbuck was coming on the show, I was like damn. She’ll inject some fresh energy into the show and I can’t wait to see how she does.

I read somewhere that next season could be in NY.
But… Sackhoff as an Analyst? Hope she will be a butt kicking analyst who drives like crazy while smashing terrorist skulls.
NY + Sackhoff will be a change for the series, provided that we aren’t seeing a 24-like-refurbished version of “Die Hard: With a Vengeance” where Bauer loses his hair and runs around with some sideckick trying to complete stupid tasks before the Cylons land in the big apple and try to steal some shit, among our time.
I’ll watch it anyway, in spite in what the made Tony do (damn scriptwriters).
Perhaps this time they manage to kill Jack (yeah, right).
I really want to get into watching 24, but I got involved with Lost from when it started and am now watching Fringe. Many of my family and friends all love 24 and have been trying to get me to watch. I will have to get it on DVD and start watching from the beginning after Lost is over this upcoming season.
