This is the fourth season of Heroes. By now, Tim Kring and his writing staff on the set of Heroes has to have heard all the complaints a million times about why viewers are troubled by the lack of quality on the series.
Yet it seems like they hear the criticism and let it go out the other ear, never actually listening.
The fourth season is now two episodes old and I have no idea why anyone would like any of these “heroes” aside from perhaps Peter.
And one other, whom had the best moment in Heroes history if you ask me.
What are these characters up to? Claire is at college doing…nothing except revealing her secret to a friend. Yawn. Parkman has Sylar in his head…could have been good, but it’s just boring as heck. Hiro and Ando are sooo uninteresting these days. Horn-rimmed glasses guy? Up to nothing. Peter’s mom? Worried about Nathan/Sylar.
All of it…just boring. Depressing really.
The only amazing storyline so far was the deaf girl on Monday’s episode. The scene where she plays that violin in the park…was breathtaking. I mean it. One of the more beautiful moments on TV I’ve seen in recent years.
Sadly, it lasted only minutes. One has to wonder who thought of that scene and created this character, because they should channel that creativity for the rest of the show.
Peter’s story is somewhat okay to me, because he’s out actually doing something. Or trying to. Saving people. Like a hero should be.
But that’s the real problem with the show. Our “heroes” are nothing but depressed people with no goals. Parkman doesn’t want to use his powers. Why not? Do some good with it! Claire just wants to be normal. Hiro and Ando are trying, but they are such bumbling idiots. Hiro’s lack of power or quirky side affects of using it has gotten old and tired.
Why can’t the writers turn this show into a good versus evil comic book-like story? Form sides…get a Justice League together. Let Peter lead it. Pit Peter and Sylar against each other in epic battles. Have new heroes drawn into each side.
For some reason, I don’t stop watching the show. I honestly should. I ended up skipping parts of the last episode that just made me cringe.
I guess I hold out hope that somehow someone will do something good with this series. But it’s getting close to bailing out time for me. There’s only so many letdowns that you can endure before all hope is gone.

I tried. I made it all the way through last season despite not enjoying most of it… this season I have decided to pass. I’m not even recording them on DVR and saving them for later. If somehow the season turns out to be good, I’ll rent it on DVD or maybe consider buying it or something. I’m just not going to support them on a week to week basis until I know the quality returns.
Problem is that the first season was so goal-oriented – save the cheerleader, save the world – and none of the rest have been, so the characters just wander aimlessly from one Red Herring to another.
Also, since they killed off the comic book artist Isaac, there’s nobody to visually narrate and lead the story along.
There aren’t any good bad guys… They’ve used Sylar so much he’s become a laughable cliche. Momma Petrelli is stodgy & unfrightening, yet somehow we’re to believe that she’s sorta running the game? Horned-rim glasses guy Mr. Bennett is only interesting from the “now what am I supposed to do?” angle, but they don’t have the guts to let that scenario play out. Instead, they keep revving him back up into mission mode.
I sorta thought they jumped the shark when Suresh started channeling Jeff Goldblum…
Mike I will not say if I like this season or not.I have been told that I have bad taste for TV.I will leave you with that buddy. But the one thing I can say is I do know how I really do feel about Heroes.
I think that Tim should make someone to lead the story, to guide the heroes what to do . like the invisible guy that led peter to do something with his powers .
I liked the last season, there seemed to be a lot of action and it moved along pretty well, not sure about this season yet. I wasn’t too impressed with the second season though, way too much story and kind of blah. So hopefully this season will pick up, I really think a show like this jumps all over the place too much at times. They try to fit so much into it, that you lose track of what’s going on and it get’s a little overwhelming (aka Lost).

I would agree to that… Heroes for some reason have lost its mojo so to say… Does not feel one bit interesting as it started…
When a friend suggested me first.. he said.. there i no way you can not like HEROES… but after season 2 it does feel like just another TV show.. its still interesting and i like watching it.. but just like Smallville lost its mojo after LEX (Micheal) left the scene.. and more so after LANA (Kristen) left… it does not seem the same…

TJ, Smallville was actually very good last season and this season so far too. It was horrible a few years ago, I almost gave up, but with Doomsday last year, it got realllly good.
(Although the finale fight with Doomsday wasn’t so great)
Yeah..but I missed the Clark Lana chemistry… I guess I am biased… I watch it nonetheless…

yeah. totally sucks. I feel like a lot of shows let me down over the last year. Plus, now Jay Leno is messing up primetime.
A very intresting blog, I found your website on google and thought
I would put a comment. Keep up the good work.
You said it man. Exactly my feelings.
I think the latest season is now getting its peak but still I find it lacking something that I only seen on the 1st season. Hope there will be great stories on the next episodes.
I’m finding season 4 to be a lot more interesting than season 3 so far. I’ts ALMOST there. But it seems to be taking it’s time. So we’ll have to wait and see around November sweeps. I’m enjoying this season so far. It’s not season 1 yet but pretty close with potential.
Heroes had a great premise at the start but seems to be very aimless at the moment. I think this show suffers from the same things as I saw wrong with the Terminator show where the Sarah Conner character was always so depressed. The Heroes characters may face a bleak future but they have to have some upbeat characteristics at some time. Some writers today are so concerned with making characters and stories gritty and bleak to create tension and clash that they forget the need for hope somewhere along the line. Steven Spielberg is a great stry teller and he always gave the audience hope.
To be honest, I thought everything from the second season on was lacking, and that’s a lot coming from a total comic book geek.
