I can say I have never read any of the Percy Jackson & The Olympians books yet. But after buying the movie and watching it, I think it is about time for me to read them. We all know that movies today seem to only be parts of a book. It is mainly because if you made a movie straight from the book it would never end.
I was hesitated on buying the movie but I have heard good things from those who seen it in theaters. So I thought to myself and just bought it, and I have to say that i really enjoyed it. A more up to date action of people worked out well in the movie. Bringing the Demi-Gods to life and having them to stop war because of a lousy lightning bolt being taken from Zeus.
Logan Lerman (Percy Jackson) plays a great role in the movie as a Demi-God and son to Kevin Mckidd (Poseidon). Other star role players in the movie are Brandon T. Jackson (Grover the Satyr) who helps lead Percy to find the under world to get his mother back from Hades. And also is his watcher to keep him from harms way.
Uma Thurman plays (Medusa) the snake headed woman and gets her head chopped off by Percy shortly after her appearance on the big screen. I think her shades that she wore brought more attention to her eyes when they were revealed. Looking into her eyes would turn you to stone and the fact that this was kept correct from the books of history made her role more important.
From moving around from state to state as the show went on just to find the pearls would keep you asking for more. The pearls were used to escape from the under world. Sean Bean plays a great role as the lead God (Zeus). Alexandra Daddario is (Annabeth,Daughter of Athena) and I have to say that their is no other actress that could have played this role any better than she did. Strong, smart, and beautiful will help this young lady in her career later down the road. I do hope they bring her back in the next movie.
I see this movie as a history lesson and a lot of things can be learned from it if you don’t already know. It is a must see for the summer of 2010 and you want be upset for buying it.The movie was a two thumbs up in my book and I can’t wait till the next one comes out.
