ABC Hot for Sci-fi Drama ‘Flash Forward’
After some heated bidding, a spec script by Blade filmmaker David S. Goyer and Star Trek veteran Brannon Braga is close to landing at ABC. ABC is hoping the series, Flash Forward, could be a worthy companion to Lost.
Based on Robert J. Sawyer’s sci-fi novel, Flash Forward chronicles the chaos that ensues after A [...]
Nathan Fillion’s Castle Gets Picked Up by ABC
The more Nathan Fillion, the better, is what I always say. We told you guys briefly about this new pilot he was starring in called Castle, but we didn’t know much about it, nor if it was even going to be picked up by ABC.
Well, we still only have the outline of what the show is about, but we can pass on the news that it has indeed been picked up and will become a series sometime in the future.
ABC announces Fall 2008 premiere dates
Here is your handy-dandy guide to the fall premiere dates on ABC. It’s sadly missing its best show, but that’s because we have to wait for Lost until 2009. That still depresses me no matter how many times I think about it.
Eli Stone is a series I’ve heard is pretty good, so I may need to check it out, but other than that, Pushing Daisies appears to be the only ABC show I’ll be tuning into this fall. Except for possible Grey’s Anatomy to watch Kevin McKidd.
Zach Braff Leaving Scrubs
Some big news came out of an ABC panel discussion today. TV Guide is reporting that Scrubs executive producer, Bill Lawrence, announced that Zach Braff will be leaving the show at the end of this season. No reason was given for Braff’s exit although Lawrence joked that Braff’s exit was “not by his choice.”
Courtney Cox Joining Cast Of “Scrubs”
Entertainment Weekly is reporting that Courtney Cox will be joining the cast of Scrubs for a three-episode arc as Sacred Heart’s new Chief of Medicine.
Scrubs producers had been looking to stunt cast the role of Dr. Kelso’s successor and I’d say that they made a pretty good choice. According to insiders Cox’s character will [...]
Scrubs creator Bill Lawrence rips NBC
The Ausiello Scoop interviewed Scrubs creator Bill Lawrence last week and got the full details about the break-up with NBC and what is to come on ABC.
Ausiello says he likes Lawrence because he doesn’t mince words. I’d have to agree, based on his harsh trashing of NBC he did during the discussion.
Zach Braff officially tells us that Scrubs is moving to ABC
Via MySpace bulletin earlier this week, Zach Braff finally let out the news that we all knew anyways: Scrubs is moving to ABC.
Not only that, but he explained just a bit about the Princess Bride season finale called My Princess and addressed the confusion most people had seeing Dr. Kelso suddenly back in charge.
Network pickups, renewals and cancellations
This past weekend was wrought with network decisions over potential new series, the renewals of current series and the cancellation of others.
Not all of them are worth noting, because there are a ton, but Variety has a good overview of most of them.
I’m going to outline some of the highlights for me. I’ve scoured the web to find news on anything I can find, and will post updates as the networks start making official announcements.
“Lost” gets additional hours in final two seasons
That nasty ol’ WGA Strike can’t keep a good thing down. And Lost is a good thing.
Because of the strike and the success of Lost, ABC has decided to extend the next two seasons to 17 episodes, instead of the 16 originally agreed upon.
That makes up for the two hours we’ll be missing out on this year, even though they did just recently add an hour to the finale on May 29th.
“Ellen” in high-definition this fall
I never see the The Ellen DeGeneres Show except in passing, but I still think she’s one of the funniest comedians I’ve ever heard.
Her talk show is a massive hit and it’s about time it joins the high-definition revolution. EngadgetHD is reporting that September 8th is the day that we’ll be able to see the [...]
