In the past we’ve discussed different ways in which American Idol could perhaps put a new spin on the show and maybe even make the show better by changing some of the ways they do things. I know that a lot of people have offered up different ideas and opinions on what the producers should consider doing to increase viewership and viewer satisfaction, however, I’m not sure if adding a fourth judge was what anyone had in mind.

Auditions for the eighth season of AMERICAN IDOL begin Thursday, July 17, at the Cow Palace in San Francisco, CA, and will continue in seven other cities. Once again, auditioners will have an extraordinary opportunity to perform before millions of TV viewers and become household names, with one winning the coveted American Idol title and a major recording contract.

No better than my record was for predicting who would get voted off every week, I suppose it was inevitable that I would get the ultimate predication wrong as well. Believe it or not, we’re finally down to the Top 3 contestants in American Idol 2008, Season 7. It’s been thirteen weeks of live performances to reach this point and it’s starting to feel like it. This week the last three Idol hopefuls were allowed to sing three songs each - one chosen by the judges, one chosen by the producers, and one of their own choosing. Who would perform the best?

American Idol Season 7 is in the homestretch and is winding down. It won’t be long before the winner is announced and the whole thing is in the record books. It seems like the season has gone by pretty quickly. Heck, it seems like only yesterday we were watching the showdown between Jordin Sparks and Blake Lewis in the finale for Season 6.

Rumors of backstage meddling and interference on American Idol by David Archuleta’s father, Jeff Archuleta, has been circulating for a few weeks now. I haven’t reported it because there was no way to confirm whether or not the rumors were true.

The American Idol Results show for week 12 of Season 7 live performances announced the Top 3 contestants and managed to finally cut loose the last of the pretenders, and a contestants who no longer appeared to be having fun, and gave the remaining hopefuls a one in three shot at being named the next American Idol.
