Guy Ritchie did some talking at Comic-Con about his plans for Sherlock Holmes. Ritchie is known for his gritty crime dramas so it wasn’t a big surprise when he announced a while back that he wanted to make Sherlock a little more action oriented than past incarnations. He backed up that idea when he cast brand new action star Robert Downey, Jr. as his Holmes. Now we know even more.

Not too long ago we told you about plans to update Sherlock Holmes for the 21st Century with a film that would possibly be directed by Guy Ritchie. Well, now we hear from Variety that there is another Sherlock Holmes movie in the works and this one is the complete polar opposite of Ritchie’s proposed film.

Guy Ritchie is on board to direct Sherlock Holmes for Warner Bros. and producers Lionel Wigram and Dan Lin. Ritchie’s also working on a rewrite/polish of Tony Peckham’s script, based on Wigram’s upcoming comicbook “Sherlock Holmes.” The Studio is eying a 2010 release date.
