It’s Done: Mike Joins the Blu-Ray Ranks
After much begging from my wife (who honestly was sick of me talking about it), I finally laid down some bucks and purchased a Playstation 3 yesterday.
Firefly on Blu-Ray, here I come!
I’m totally pumped about this. September will give us Iron Man and Transformers releasing on Blu-Ray and this acquisition is just in the nick of time.
Firefly (Blu-Ray) is Back on for 2008 and Available for Pre-Order!
The musical chairs being played by the production company behind the Firefly Blu-Ray release may finally be over.
We first heard it was September, then Digital Bits reported that 2009 would be the soonest we saw it, and now Fox has announced the official release date for the highly anticipated complete series in high definition:
November 11th.
The Forgetting Sarah Marshall DVD is a three-disc, feature-packed extravaganza!
don’t normally get into the special features that come on DVDs, because if the movie is available on pay-per-view in high-def, I’d rather watch it there anyways. And I also don’t always find the little featurettes and mini-documentaries to be all that interesting, although the stuff on Swingers and Lord of the Rings was absolutely fantastic.
No “Firefly” on Blu-Ray until 2009
Just a quick note to you Firefly fans out there. We told you not too long ago that the entire Firefly series would be out on high-definition Blu-Ray in September of this year, but Digital Bits is reporting that date is no longer valid.
Firefly comes to Blu-Ray in September
I told you guys in April about Firefly finally coming to high definition DVD down the road, and now we have a release date to pass on.
It’s September 23rd, it’s on Blu-Ray and it’s exciting. My only sadness is that I DO NOT OWN a Blu-Ray player and it’s getting harder and harder all the time to ignore that fact.
DVD concert review: “ZZ Top – Live In Texas”
Let me begin by saying that as a musician I am always impressed by three-piece bands, especially when they are able to sound as full as, or fuller, than some four and five piece groups. ZZ Top is no exception in this regard.
In their first ever live concert video release, scheduled to hit stores June 27, 2008 on both DVD and Blu-ray formats, this Texas trio rocks the Nokia Theater in Dallas, Texas as they romp through their catalog of crowd favorites.
What to rent: New DVD releases for 6/10/08
Finally we get a week with some OKAY releases, or at least some fun ones. We have a fantastic mini-series, a superhero-ish flick, a few cool Blu-Ray titles and two interesting TV series.
Alright, the weekend is coming fast, so let’s get to it.
New Netflix/Roku streaming movie box arrives
Perhaps I wont need to get that Blu-Ray player afterall.
As some people have been saying the last few months, it really may not matter that Blu-Ray beat out HD-DVD for the title of high-def DVD king…now that streaming movies are making their arrivals, we may not even need those shiny discs again.
“Dark City: Director’s Cut” coming on July 29th
Great news for Dark City fans out there.
A new edition of the movie is coming to DVD and Blu-Ray on July 29th. It’s the Dark City: Director’s Cut, which supposedly is 15 minutes longer than the original’s 96 minute run time.
Netflix going to charge extra for Blu-Ray rentals
If you have Blu-Ray and Netflix, be prepared to pay a bit extra.
According to EngadgetHD, the CEO of Netflix, Reed Hastings, said on a conference call yesterday that they are planning on “instituting a modest monthly premium” on top of your normal fees if you rent Blu-Ray.
EngadgetHD says it DOES make sense, because these discs [...]
