Hollywood is all about excess. That’s the main reason I’m not really surprised to hear that there is yet another sword-and-sandals film entering active production development. This time the tale of Jason and the Argonauts will be mined once again for a film currently entitled The Argonauts.

If you’re a games-turned-into-movies fan, and who isn’t (note the sarcasm), you’ll have reasons to be both happy and sad with this news. The popular video game series, God of War, finally has a director for the film adaptation. But it’s Brett Ratner.

Just in case you were afraid there would be a movie franchise that they would somehow leave alone…let me reassure you that there isn’t. Paramount has given the green light to a fourth installment of the Beverly Hills Cop franchise starring Eddie Murphy in the role that helped make him famous.

Variety is reporting a diverse group of actors and directors are teaming up and spreading out across New York to shoot “New York, I Love You.” The film will be a “mixture of contemplative romance and unabashed civic boosterism.â€Â? The anthology of shorts follows the format of “Paris, je t’aime,â€Â? (which means “Paris, I love youâ€Â? in French) a surprise specialty hit released last year.
