With the movie version of Watchmen coming in 2009, it was a must-read for me and of course it came highly recommended.

The director of the movie, Zack Snyder, put up a contest yesterday that is actually pretty cool if you are into using your home video camera to film stuff.

Basically, you are to make a commercial that will last 15, 30 or 60 seconds based on a packet of assets that you can use in your creation. The movie is set in 1985, so the commercial has to be in 4:3 format and use their advertisers provided.

20 finalists could win $1,000 each, and of course have a chance to be in the movie itself.

You can find out all the rules and info by visiting the film’s YouTube page. If you want to see the rules real quick, watch Snyder on the YouTube video below:

My good friend Jeff of Static Thinkbox is putting on a bit of unique contest over on his site. His wife is due to give birth pretty soon (March 14 to be exact) so Jeff is letting his readers take a guess at when the Little Baby ThinkBox is actually going to arrive.

The prize for entering this contest is 314 Entrecard credits (314 is 3/14 or the date his wife is due) as well as a t-shirt from the guys at eMedTV and some free advertising on his site as well as Inner88.

You can visit the Little Baby ThinkBox Birth Date Prediction Contest page to check out all the details and the official rules, but it’s pretty simple. All you really have to do to enter is post an article about the contest and make your prediction on Static ThinkBox. Doesn’t get much easier than that.

Good luck!

As I wrote on Wednesday, this Sunday is the premiere of The Amazing Race 12 and I am starting to get a little bit excited about it. The game always starts off with a frenzied rush for the cars close by or whatever their form of transportation is.

Whenever I watch the show, I always think to myself…”I think I could do that…I SHOULD do that…”

Well, after the read more link, not only will you get contest details, but you are going to get a video that should make you embarrassed to either read my blog or know me and my friend Scott.

The contest is this:

Visit the site on CBS.com for AR and see the all the teams.

Study them for a few minutes, figure out who you think has a good chance of winning

Come back here, and post in the comments area THREE TEAMS that you think COULD win it.

I will tally up your picks and post them in a blog come Sunday after the show starts, and we’ll see if anyone stayed alive

These picks are good for the entire season, not just this week. We pick once and see who survives.

You can pick your three teams up until the show debuts on Eastern time…no cheaters!

So what’s the prize? Well I really have nothing to offer, except this blog. So if one of your picks wins the Amazing Race, you will get a blog written by me on ANY topic you want. I can post about your site, your blog, your life, some movie you love, nerdy weather stuff, whatever. You pick it, I’ll write something about it and it will be awesome.

Now, while you are perusing over teams, maybe you need some inspiration…or a good chuckle.

A few years back, my buddy Scott and I made a video that we sent to The Amazing Race, trying to get on the show, using the angle of “neighbors” to get us some consideration.

Needless to say, we never heard back…and from watching the video below, you can probably guess why.
