Alex Proyas Developing Robert Heinlein’s The Unpleasant Profession of Jonathan Hoag
You never know what you’re going to get when Hollywood adapts classic sci-fi stories so I’m not sure whether to be excited about this news or just go ahead and be disappointed. But Alex Proyas, who is most famous for directing Dark City and I, Robot (and the upcoming Knowing) has optioned the rights to Robert Heinlein’s novela The Unpleasant Profession of Jonathan Hoag.
What to rent: New DVD releases for 7/29/08
A slow week for actual, real new movies coming out, but the Blu-Ray crews went gangbusters this week with some very cool titles, including a few featuring the infamous Jack Ryan.
There are also a ton of TV titles like The Hills, Beverly Hills 90210, Centennial, Witchblade and Law and Order: SVU.
First Look at Nicolas Cage in Alex Proyas’ “Knowing”
I’m not sure if Nicolas Cage ever met a script he didn’t like. Some of his recent film choices would seem to imply that he doesn’t even bother to read the scripts before actually signing up for the movies. Lord knows his acting doesn’t really take a lot of prep work. However, I actually think the film he’s making now, Knowing, has a shot at being a decent flick.
“Dark City: Director’s Cut” coming on July 29th
Great news for Dark City fans out there.
A new edition of the movie is coming to DVD and Blu-Ray on July 29th. It’s the Dark City: Director’s Cut, which supposedly is 15 minutes longer than the original’s 96 minute run time.
I Am Legend 2? Really? Anyone have an original idea anymore?
Since I Am Legend hit theaters back on December 14th, it’s grossed around $228 million, according to Box Office Guru. Will Smith is a huge draw and movie goers went out in droves to catch this film.
