I’ve been looking forward to this one for a couple of years now, and even my usual “meh” feelings for Angelina Jolie aren’t dampening my spirit. To most people, this is the latest Clint Eastwood film. To me, it’s J. Michael Straczynski‘s first A-list screenplay.

Based on a shocking and horrific true story, Changeling details the disappearance of young Walter Collins, and the scandal that ensued when the LAPD returned a wayward boy in his place.

Take a look at the trailer below.

Changeling starts Angelina Jolie, John Malkovich, and Pop Critics favorite Jeffrey Donovan and premieres November 7.

Posted exclusively on Cinematical, I found it on First Showing where they tell us that the artwork for this poster is based off that of Saul Bass, who designed legendary posters for movies like Vertigo, West Side Story, North By Northwest and more.
I mean, what can you say about it? It’s retro, cool, unique and intriguing. It’s one of the better posters I’ve seen this year.

If you haven’t heard much about the film, you need to check out the trailer.

Enjoy!

Universal has announced they will release the Clint Eastwood period drama Changeling on October 24 in a limited run before going wide one week later.

Changeling is set in 1920s Los Angeles and stars Angelina Jolie in a true story about a woman whose son disappears. Months later the police tell her they’ve found him – only she claims it isn’t her son. Eastwood directed from a script by J. Michael Straczynski. The film also stars John Malkovich, Jeffrey Donovan, and Michael Kelly.

Changeling made its world premiere at the Cannes Film Festival where the French title of the film was “The Exchange.” That title prompted speculation that Universal might be considering a name change for the film, but Universal and Eastwood have both they’re sticking with the original title.

By opening in only a few select markets at the heart of awards season on October 24, Universal will hope to build buzz off positive reviews.

In Burn After Reading Malkovich will play Ozzie Cox, a former CIA agent who decides to do what any former CIA agent would do – write his memoirs. His soon-to-be ex-wife, Tilda Swinton, steals the disc containing his memoirs to use against him, but then accidentally leaves it at the gym where it is found by two trainers, Chad and Linda (Brad Pitt, Frances McDormand), who believe they can use the info to blackmail Cox. George Clooney will play a friend of the Cox’s who starts to have an affair with Cox’s wife and later on Linda as he starts to get caught up in the situation between the trainers and the CIA. It is said that both Pitt and Clooney will be playing two of the dumbest characters of their careers.

Burn After Reading is set to open on September 12, 2008.

Joel and Ethan Coen, otherwise known as the Coen Brothers, have a release date for their next film. Focus Features announced yesterday that Burn After Reading, the Oscar-winning directors’ follow-up to this year’s Best Picture winner No Country For Old Men, will open domestically on Friday, September 12, 2008.

The Coens may have won an Oscar for the serious-in-tone, No Country, but Burn After Reading starring George Clooney, Brad Pitt, John Malkovich, Tilda Swinton, and Frances McDormand focuses on the world of the CIA, physical fitness in Washington, D.C., and internet dating. Really. It may be full of Oscar winners and nominees but this film has darkly funny written all over it.

In Burn After Reading Malkovich will play Ozzie Cox, a former CIA agent whose soon-to-be ex-wife (Tilda Swinton) steals a disc containing his memoirs and accidentally leaves it at the gym where it is found by two trainers, Chad and Linda (Brad Pitt, Frances McDormand), who believe they can use the info to blackmail Cox. George Clooney will play a friend of the Cox’s who starts to have an affair with Cox’s wife and later on Linda as he starts to get caught up in the situation between the trainers and the CIA. It is said that both Pitt and Clooney will be playing two of the dumbest characters of their careers.

I think this film is going to be a lot of fun.

What do you do after you’ve made a movie like “No Country For Old Men” that turns out to be one of the most critically acclaimed movies of the year and the front runner for the Best Picture and Best Director Oscars at the Academy Awards?

Well, if you’re Joel Coen and Ethan Coen you follow it up with a dark comedy called “Burn After Reading” starring George Clooney, Brad Pitt, John Malkovich, Tilda Swinton, and Frances McDormand that focuses on the world of the CIA, physical fitness in Washington, D.C., and internet dating.

Hey, I can’t make this stuff up…

The Coen Brothers may be in the news for the work they did on “No Country” but buzz for their next film is already building. With an all-star, A list cast, the directors were bound to garner some attention even if it weren’t for the Oscar buzz surrounding them these days. And much like when they followed “Barton Fink” with “The Hudsucker Proxy,” and “The Man Who Wasn’t There” with “Intolerable Cruelty,” the brothers are following up the darkness of “No Country” with the comedy of “Burn After Reading.”

In “Burn After Reading” Malkovich will play Ozzie Cox, a former CIA agent whose soon-to-be ex-wife (Tilda Swinton) steals a disc containing his memoirs and accidentally leaves it at the gym where it is found by two trainers, Chad and Linda (Brad Pitt, Frances McDormand), who believe they can use the info to blackmail Cox. George Clooney will play a friend of the Cox’s who starts to have an affair with Cox’s wife and later on Linda as he starts to get caught up in the situation between the trainers and the CIA. It is said that both Pitt and Clooney will be playing two of the dumbest characters of their careers.

I personally think it sounds off-the-wall funny. Coen Brother films are almost always enjoyable, the comedies most of all. With the cast they have assembled I don’t think they can help but get a good show out of what is said to be a very funny script.

Principal photography ended in November, but a release date has not yet been set.
