But it was so popular, the Dr. Horrible folks had to get new webservers! That’s not good. They were too loved!

I…don’t want to say much about it. Act I is up for your viewing pleasure and is just over 10 minutes long. If you love NPH (and if you don’t, are you sure you’re at the right website?) and if you love Joss Whedon (if not, see the last parenthetical) you should check this out. Oh, plus there’s the lovely Felicia Day, the lovely Nathan Fillion, and songs aplenty. I will tell you this, Dr. Horrible has a good chance of making it into the Evil League of Evil if his plans go right. His “application is strong this year.”

Let’s hope Captain Hammer doesn’t screw things up like always.

Act II premieres tomorrow (tonight at midnight, actually) and Act III on the 19th. It’s only going to be free online for a few days, so take advantage of this remarkable window of opportunity while you can. Otherwise, you’ll have people like me kvetching to you endlessly: “how could you miss it? Do you want to borrow my DVD copy? Here, let me get the DVD.”

I’m not sure if you’ve seen this commercial yet, but I started noticing it last week sometime. Harris does and advertisement for Old Spice and in the process, totally makes fun of his role on Doogie Howser, M.D.

“Dr. Horrible’s Sing-Along Blog” will be streamed, LIVE (that part’s not true), FREE (sadly, that part is) right on Drhorrible.com, in mid-July. Specifically:

ACT ONE (Wheee!) will go up Tuesday July 15th.

ACT TWO (OMG!) will go up Thursday July 17th.

ACT THREE (Denouement!) will go up Saturday July 19th.

All acts will stay up until midnight Sunday July 20th. Then they will vanish into the night, like a phantom (but not THE Phantom – that’s still playing. Like, everywhere.)

During the WGA strike, several big-time writers started exploring other avenues of distribution outside the traditional studio system. For example, one of the first deals the WGA closed during the divide and conquer period was with Media Rights Capital (MRC), letting Family Guy creator Seth MacFarlane get to work on his digital shorts for Google. That deal will presumably be profitable for MacFarlane over time.

Joss Whedon made a less profit-driven choice in creating a three-part online musical about a supervillain. Making it a family affair, the musical is co-created by Joss, his brothers Zack and Jed, and Jed’s fianceé Maurissa Tancharoen. It stars Neil Patrick Harris (and once you get to really know me, you’ll know I think NPH is a god among men,) Nathan Fillion, and many of the other Whedon Irregulars.

Apparently, the powers that be decided that another good reviews and a million viewers is pretty much a win-win for everyone so Spears will be reprising her role as the bubbly secretary, Abby, on the May 12 episode that is filming this week.

When last seen, Abby was flirting with womanizer Barney (cast member Neil Patrick Harris). The new episode, which began production Monday, has Abby and Barney sharing their mutual dislike of Ted (cast member Josh Radnor) and acting on it.

“Desperate to get a rise out of his former pal, Barney pops a surprising question to Abby,” CBS said in a release.

If you didn’t see last night’s episode you missed one of the funniest episodes of the show ever and the episode that will, apparently, set up the Spears episode as Ted and Barney had a bit of a falling out. The last time I checked CBS was still showing episodes on their website so I highly encourage you to check last night’s episode out if nothing else.

As for the Britney thing… It doesn’t really bother me. To be honest, any number of actresses could have played the part she played, but she did a decent job and played the part the way they obviously wanted it played. I wouldn’t tune it just to see Britney, but I wouldn’t not tune it because Britney’s on the show. Britney actually played the secretary to a character played by Sarah Chalke from Scrubs so it’s worth checking out just for the chance that she might make an appearance.

The preview for “Harold and Kumar Escape From Guantanamo Bay” (official site) actually looks pretty funny. I have to admit, though, that I’m mostly excited that Neil Patrick Harris is returning as…well, Neil Patrick Harris (or some version of himself anyway). And I think the teaser poster (which I just have to include here) is actually much funnier than the actual poster. I mean, Neil Patrick Harris on a unicorn… What’s not to love?

This time, the boys get themselves in trouble trying to sneak a bong on board a flight to Amsterdam. Now, being suspected of terrorism, they are forced to run from the law and try to find a way to prove their innocence. What follows is an irreverent and epic journey of deep thoughts, deeper inhaling and a wild trip around the world that is as “un-PC� as it gets.
