First off Jason and I want to just thank you all for migrating over from our old blogs to this new one, so we can totally focus on pop culture and entertainment news, something we both have a passion to write about. If anyone is worried about our old blogs, I think we’ll probably get back to posting things on them again down the road, but right now our focus has been here.

Now on to Pop Critics news and notes.

You’ll notice that we just put up some new advertisements. We just joined the Peerflix Media Network and are glad to have some advertisements that should hopefully relate more to the world of entertainment, videos and pop culture. Peerflix is specific to our industry, so that should bring relevant ads our way. It of course will put a few bucks in our pockets as we grow the site into a bigger and better venue for potential advertisers.

We also are listening to you guys, and feedback is always welcomed. Recently we added a SUBSCRIBE page because a few of you wanted ways to have instant email notifications on new blog posts, so we put that up there, plus the other two ways to subscribe to the site.

In the coming week we’re also going to change up the frontpage just a bit, in an effort to make reading the site a bit easier. Right now we have our main story, and then about 10 other little square excerpts below. Reading older stories requires you to go back to the top, click on the Archives tab and then click on the current month.

Well, we’re going to turn those squares into a normal blog format, so that they display one after the other down the page. And then you’ll be able to go to Page 2, Page 3, etc., and find it a lot easier to read our older stuff.

Since we do tend to put up 7-10 posts a day, we understand how hard it is to keep up on things, so we want to make it as easy as possible.

As I said above, any feedback is welcomed and we’re open to any ideas you have. This site is more about the community than what we like personally, so the more we can integrate what you guys are looking for, the better we’ll all do and the more fun we’ll have.

First of all, I just want to let everyone know that I’m not dead and I haven’t abandoned this site. I know it’s been about a week now since I’ve posted anything and I didn’t really let everyone know that it was going to be a while before I posted again. The reason for that was mostly just that I knew I would be taking a break but didn’t know when regular posting would resume.

At my “real world” job I am fortunate enough to get off for about a week and a half during this Christmas holiday so I’ve spent the past week visiting with family out of town and spending time with my wife and six month old daughter who, it sometimes seems, I seldom get to spend much time with. On top of that I’m attempting to make a few changes to the site as well as move the whole thing to a new host…something I haven’t really had a lot of experience with so that’s been a lot of fun.

So, anyway, I wanted to let everyone know that regular posting will be starting back up before you know it and I’ll catch you up on anything important we might have missed. Luckily, it’s been a pretty slow news week so there’s not a lot to report. I’ll have some really cool movie posters and some new previews to post, though, so keep your eyes open for that.

Thanks for your support!

Looks like Jack Bauer…er…Kiefer Sutherland will be spending his Christmas behind bars at the Glendale city jail in California. Sutherland was sentenced to 48 days in jail on Wednesday for racking up a second drunken driving arrest in a three year period of time.

Sutherland was arrested by police after he was stopped for making an illegal u-turn and failed a field sobriety test after leaving a nightclub back on September 25. He was already on probation for the same offense stemming from a 2004 incident. He pleaded no contest in October to driving with a blood-alcohol level above the legal limit of .08.

The actor requested to serve his time in Glendale and that request was granted. He was ordered to complete the sentence by March 30 but chose to turn himself over to authorities to begin serving his sentence immediately. He could have waited until as late as February 12.

The Glendale jail is a minimum security facility with 48 cells, each of them measuring 10 feet by 8 feet. They come equipped with two beds, a toilet, washbasin and water fountain, but Sutherland won’t be sharing his cell with anyone.

The actor is classified as an “inmate worker” and will be required to perform duties in the laundry room and help prepare food for inmates in the kitchen area. He must serve all 48 days of his sentence.

Under the terms of his plea, he also must serve five years of probation, pay a $510 fine, enroll in an 18-month alcohol-education class and attend weekly alcohol-therapy sessions for six months.

Sutherland, who plays the coolest federal counterterrorism agent ever, Jack Bauer on “24,” won an Emmy for best actor last year. It was recently announced that the next season of “24″ will not be premiering in January as originally scheduled. No new details of the season have been released yet.

An angry Jennifer Love Hewitt took to her MySpace page to defend herself against ridicule being lobbed against her on the internet over pictures taken of her in a bikini on the beach with her fiance, Scottish actor Ross McCall.

    About my Vacation…
Current mood: annoyed

…and all the pictures of it online.

This is the last time I will address this subject.

I’ve sat by in silence for a long time now about the way women’s bodies are constantly scrutinized. To set the record straight, I’m not upset for me, but for all of the girls out there that are struggling with their body image.”

A size 2 is not fat! Nor will it ever be. And being a size 0 doesn’t make you beautiful.

What I should be doing is celebrating some of the best days of my life and my engagement to the man of my dreams, instead of having to deal with photographers taking invasive pictures from bad angles. I know what I look like, and so do my friends and family. And like all women out there should, I love my body.

To all girls with butts, boobs, hips and a waist, put on a bikini – put it on and stay strong.

    Xoxo

Splashnewsonline.com first posted the shots followed by TMZ.com, along with some less-than-complimentary comments. TMZ.com, for example, said, “We know what you ate this summer, Love â€â€? everything!”

So what do you think? Is she fat?

I’m not sure I would say all the pictures are flattering, but I’m not sure how anyone would consider her fat. Jennifer is absolutely correct in saying that a size 2 is not, should not, and has never been considered, fat.

Unfortunately, the attention she’s getting for the pictures is an unfortunate side effect of the business she’s in. There will always be those who will judge her more harshly because of who she is and what she does for a living. I’m not saying they are right for saying what they are saying, but I’m not surprised that it is being said.

Still, though, this is another one of those things that makes me wonder about the state of our society. What does it say about us as a people that many would look at a woman who is a size 2 and judge her to be fat? How are we supposed to teach our daughters to have a healthy self image if they see pictures like these on the television or internet with hundreds of people screaming out that the person in the picture is too fat?
