Come on, this has to excite you! The New Kids On The Block, which we recently reported were reuniting, has now announced some new tour dates. That’s right, the NKOTB is going on tour. Having signed up for updates on NKOTB.com, I was one of the first to be notified, but I feel compelled to share the knowledge with everyone (plus they already posted it on the site).

Way back in January we brought you the news that the New Kids On The Block were planning to reunite (New Kids On The Block To Stage Comeback). Everyone thought it was a silly joke at the time, but today we get confirmation that the New Kids are getting back together with plans to release a new album and go on tour.

The group released a new photo Wednesday and reportedly will appear on the Today show Friday morning � the same time an unmarked countdown clock on http://www.nkotb.com ends.

The New Kids might not be kids anymore since they’re mostly pushing 40, but the guys who sold 70 million albums in the 1980s and early 1990s think they still have something to offer.

“The fan response to this has been incredible,” band member Donnie Wahlberg told the Boston Herald. Wahlberg, once the most famous of the Wahlberg brothers, said that the other four members of NKOTB (Joey McIntyre, brothers Jordan and Jonathan Knight and Danny Wood) convinced him to get the group back together after they decided to record some new music. Wahlberg said he wrote 80 percent of the new material with McIntyre and Jordan Knight.

At the height of their popularity, New Kids sold out world tours, marketed millions of dollars in merchandise and spawned a Saturday morning cartoon.

The group disbanded in 1994. Wahlberg has acted on television and in movies as has McIntyre, while Jordan Knight, McIntyre and Wood released solo albums. Jonathan Knight became a real estate developer.

New Kids On The Block Header

First someone created a Pen-Top Utensil set and now this. Surely everything is beginning to fall into place.

People.com is reporting that the original boy band that we all loved and/or loved to hate, New Kids On The Block, is preparing to stage a comeback. That’s right, Jonathan, Jordan, Joey, Donny, and Danny have reignited the once dormant band’s web site www.nkotb.com in preparation for the official anoucement which could come in a matter of weeks.

As you can see from the image above, the site doesn’t yet have much on it. It allows you to sign up for “exclusive info” by providing your information on the left hand side. Clicking the channel buttons on the remote will bring up a video that reminds us of the band’s once glorious past.

New Kids On The BlockIn case you’re wondering, it’s been eighteen years since the New Kids On The Block burst onto the music scene. The boy band, which made legions of tweens swoon in the early ’90s, selling more than 50 million albums, became a worldwide phenomenon before calling it quits in 1994.

The various members of New Kids (as fans once called them) have had varied careers since breaking up the band. The oldest New Kid, Jonathan Knight, who will turn 40 later this year, is now a real estate developer. Donnie Wahlber, 38 (brother to actor Mark Wahlberg) and Joey McIntyre, 35, have seen sporadic success in acting. Danny Wood, 38, has worked mostly as a music producer. Jonathan’s brother, Jordan Knight, 37, has continued to record.
