Universal Says “Thanks, but no thanks” To ‘Tintin’
In what sounds like an incredibly bone-headed move from a business point of view, Universal Pictures has pulled out of the Tintin adaptation. They have declined to exercise an option to co-finance Tintin, which is already set up as a trilogy to be produced and directed by Steven Spielberg and Peter Jackson.

Just in case you were afraid there would be a movie franchise that they would somehow leave alone…let me reassure you that there isn’t. Paramount has given the green light to a fourth installment of the Beverly Hills Cop franchise starring Eddie Murphy in the role that helped make him famous.
Cruise In Talks For “Mission: Impossible 4″
The way things have been going for Tom Cruise over the last couple of years it’s really no surprise that someone would revive talk about another Mission: Impossible film. Many thought the fight between Tom Cruise and Sumner Redstone over at Viacom created a gulf too large to bridge between the two and that Cruise may never make another M:I movie. Those people didn’t do the math.
“Family Guy” Creator Seth MacFarlane Gets PAID
“Family Guy” creator Seth MacFarlane spent 2 1/2 years negotiating with 20th Century Fox TV for a new contract. MacFarlane’s “Family Guy” was previously canceled twice before recently becoming Fox’s highest rated sitcom (and a $1 billion a year franchise with red-hot DVD and merchandise sales). Apparently, it was worth the wait.
Ray Park (Darth Maul) Cast As Snake Eyes In “G.I. Joe” Movie
The live action film version of “G.I. Joe” got some much needed credibility this week when Ray Park was cast as everyone’s favorite silent ninja, Snake Eyes, in the Stephen Sommers directed film due to hit theaters August 7, 2009.
