We all know that Pixar and Disney have been going Apes (no offense to the Trousered Ape) making trailers for the upcoming Wall-E. Most of them have been pretty darn funny. But when will it stop? With this one? Could this be the last original trailer we’ll see for Wall-E before the film actually hits theaters? There’s no way to know for sure, but my money says…maybe.

Is this the greatest of all the Wall-E trailers? No. However, it does have some never before seen footage of an abandoned earth and the hilarious shopping cart scene is in it along with the funny “rogue robots” scene so it’s pretty funny. I’m getting pretty excited about this movie.

If you’re one of those people who just can’t wait until the next Disney animated film comes out then you’re in luck. The Walt Disney Studios unveiled a slate of 10 new animated feature films from Walt Disney and Pixar Animation Studios to be released through the year 2012 at a New York press conference held yesterday by Dick Cook, chairman of The Walt Disney Studios, and John Lasseter, chief creative officer for Walt Disney and Pixar Animation Studios.

It’s not completely unusual that the studio would know what animated films they have in the pipeline for the next several years as most animated films take several years to complete. It’s slightly unusual for them to make such a public announcement of the line-up.

Looking over the animated film slate a few things stand out.

Disney is betting big on 3-D.

Disney has high hopes for a new Tinkerbell franchise.

Disney is betting big on re-releases and an illogical sequel to Cars.

What if mankind had to leave Earth and somebody forgot to turn off the last robot?

Academy Award®-winning writer-director Andrew Stanton (“Finding Nemo”) and the inventive storytellers and technical geniuses at Pixar Animation Studios transport moviegoers to a galaxy not so very far away for a new computer-animated cosmic comedy about a determined robot named WALL•E.

After hundreds of lonely years doing what he was built for, WALL•E (short for Waste Allocation Load Lifter Earth-Class) discovers a new purpose in life (besides collecting knick-knacks) when he meets a sleek search robot named EVE. But when Tink tries to change who she is, she creates nothing but disaster! With encouragement from her friends Rosetta, Silvermist, Fawn and Iridessa, Tink learns the key to solving her problems lies in her unique tinker abilities … and discovers that when she’s true to herself, magical things can happen.

What if mankind had to leave Earth, and somebody forgot to turn the last robot off? Academy Award-winning writer-director Andrew Stanton (Finding Nemo) and the inventive storytellers and technical geniuses at Pixar Animation Studios (The Incredibles, Cars, Ratatouille) transport moviegoers to a galaxy not so very far away for a new computer-animated cosmic comedy about a determined robot named WALL*E. After hundreds of lonely years of doing what he was built for, WALL*E (short for Waste Allocation Load Lifter Earth-Class) discovers a new purpose in life (besides collecting knick-knacks) when he meets a sleek search robot named EVE. EVE comes to realize that WALL*E has inadvertently stumbled upon the key to the planet’s future, and races back to space to report her findings to the humans (who have been eagerly awaiting word that it is safe to return home).

I actually laughed out loud two or three times while watching this trailer. This movie looks really, really good. I mean, Pixar movies are pretty much always good, but this is a movie I can actually get excited about (unlike the last couple which I was perfectly happy to wait to watch on DVD). I actually think this movie is in my top five most anticipated movies of the summer.

Wall-E hits theaters on June 27, 2008.

Way back in September I posted the poster and trailer for Pixar’s next animated film “Wall-E” (official site) (Pixar’s “Wall-E” Poster and Trailer).

Since then, however, they’ve come out with both a new poster and a funny new trailer. Never one to rest on my laurels I’ve decided that I simply can’t let another day go by without sharing the newest poster and the newest trailer with my readers.

So, what do you think? Is this poster better than the last one? I still think that Wall-E (the actual robot) looks like Johnny 5 from “Short Circuit.” I think the movie looks really good, though. The film was directed by Andrew Stanton who also did “Finding Nemo” so it should be pretty good.According to John Lasseter in a presentation to Disney corporate investors the premise for the film is this:

WALL-E is the story of the last little robot on Earth. He is a robot that his programming was to help clean up. You see, it’s set way in the future. Through consumerism, rampant, unchecked consumerism, the Earth was covered with trash. And to clean up, everyone had to leave Earth and set in place millions of these little robots that went around to clean up the trash and make Earth habitable again.

Well, the cleanup program failed with the exception of this one little robot and he’s left on Earth doing his duty all alone. But it’s not a story about science fiction. It’s a love story, because, you see, WALL-E falls in love with [Eve], a robot from a probe that comes down to check on Earth, and she’s left there to check on and see how things are going and he absolutely falls in love with her.

I think it sounds interesting and fun. Like the last teaser trailer, this preview still doesn’t show a whole awful lot. You might be interested to know that there’s a bit of interesting tie-in with the Ratatouille video game. In the game there’s a commercial for the WALL-E robot series. It shows that WALL-E stands for Waste Allocation Load Lifter – Earth-class and is sold by the Buy n Large Corporation. The slogan is “Working to dig you out.” There is a disclaimer at the end that mentions www.buynlarge.com, a web site for the company.

This film is set for release on June 27, 2008.
