Mike brought us the new poster for the new Woody Allen flick, Vicky Cristina Barcelona, yesterday. The studio followed the poster up with a brand new movie trailer to get everyone excited (yeah, I mean it in that way).

The trailer actually looks really funny, but, of course, all the focus is on the fact that Woody somehow got Penelope Cruz and Scarlett Johansson to get it on for the film. With those two I’m guessing all he did was ask.

The story of Vicky Cristina Barcelona follows Vicky (Rebecca Hall) and Cristina (Scarlett Johansson), two young American women who decide to go to Barcelona for a summer vacation. Vicky is the sensible one who is engaged to be married (which means she’s automatically the uptight one), and Cristina is the emotionally and sexually adventurous one (the whorish friend). In Barcelona, they, of course, get drawn into a series of unconventional romantic entanglements with Juan Antonio (Javier Bardem) because the guy’s pretty attractive when he gets a decent haircut and isn’t using an air gun to put bolts through people’s heads. Juan Antonio is a charismatic painter who is still involved with his tempestuous ex-wife Maria Elena (Penelope Cruz). Hilarity ensues.

The film premiered at Cannes and received some of Allen’s best reviews in a pretty long time. I still think it had something to do with the two chicks getting it on.

What do you think? Will you be lining up for this one? Is it for Woody Allen or the two chicks getting it on (I think I just like saying that).

Vicky Cristina Barcelona is set for US release on September 5, 2008.

The reviews have been glowing so far and the rumors of the steamy interactions between all the characters has turned this into one of the more intriguing movies of the year.

It released on September 5th, 2008 and in case you missed the trailer, you can watch it here.

Here is the first poster for the film, which was released exclusively on Cinematical. I think it’s a good poster and clearly delivers the message of what the film is going to be about.

We told you guys about Vicky Cristina Barcelona awhile ago for a few reasons. One, I like Woody Allen a lot, and while I haven't seen all of his pictures, I've loved the few I have been able to watch.

Second, the movie is full of screen beauties, like Scarlett Johansson, Penelope Cruz and Rebecca Hall.
We told you guys about Vicky Cristina Barcelona awhile ago for a few reasons. Somehow Javier Bardem was the lucky guy cast for the lead role in this film in which he pretty much sleeps with all of them, and I’m not sure if that also includes a few at the same time.

And the big tease about the film is some “making out” between the actresses.

Well, the teaser for the movie is finally here, and I have to say…it’s a strange one, without a single word of dialog, despite the characters talking in the background. It’s just a musical piece overlapping the entire preview.

I assume it’s an artsy way to make a teaser, but one might wonder if the dialog is just be that bad. *grin*

Regardless, the trailer is over on First Showing and it is pretty steamy.

There is a new Woody Allen film coming out sometime this year called Vicky Cristina Barcelona with Scarlett Johansson, Rebecca Hall, Javier Bardem and Penelope Cruz as the main cast members.

The movie appears to be about two American tourists (Johansson and Hall) visiting Spain who become amorously involved with Cruz and Bardem.

I think most guys wont care about the plot when they find out the film will be a steamy one, with an apparent jaw-dropping love scene between Johansson and….Cruz. Yowsers.

A source told the NY Post:

“It is also extremely erotic. People will be blown away and even shocked. Penelope and Scarlett go at it in a red-tinted photography dark room, and it will leave the audience gasping.”

I’m slightly gasping right now and I’ve never seen a second of it.

Now my wife and I of course have our lists, and until Claire Forlani somehow gets knocked off the #1 spot on mine, Scarlett will always be second. Most of her male fans will tell you that she’s never had scene in a film where she’s shown much skin, and somehow I seem to doubt that this will be the first one.

If the idea of a steamy make-out session between Johansson and Cruz got you a little intrigued, the next tidbit might be your cold shower.

I believe Jerry Seinfeld said it best…I’m not sure, but I believe it’s called a “menage-a-Trois?” There will be one in Vicky, involving Scarlett and Hall.

And while it sounds kind of kinky, the fact that it involves Javier Bardem kind of freaks me out.

After seeing him as a psychotic, bloody killer in No Country for Old Men, I think many people will be scared that in the middle of the scene, he’ll whip out his…cow stun gun and blow a few heads off.

I’ve been a Woody Allen fan for quite a long time, especially after I saw the highly enjoyable Manhattan Murder Mystery, but this one sounds a bit out there.
Although he did Match Point which was way more serious than his usual writing and I completely loved that film.

Vicky was picked up on January 31st by The Weinstein Company, which will distribute it in North America. They sort of dropped the ball on his last movie, Cassandra’s Dream, which didn’t do too well, so it was surprising they jumped at this.

Some think the stardom of Bardem in his award-winning roll in No Country was part of the reason.

This will be their sixth film made together.
