We haven't really talked about "Eleventh Hour" much, but that's probably because there are so many other sci-fi type shows hitting the airwaves come next Fall. However, the American version is based on a pretty expensive British production that starred Patrick Stewart that was quite successful. Jerry Bruckheimer himself is producing it for CBS and the wonderful Rufus Sewell is starring in it. It's being compared to "CSI" and "The X-Files." That should be enough to get anyone's attention.

We haven’t really talked about “Eleventh Hour” much, but that’s probably because there are so many other sci-fi type shows hitting the airwaves come next Fall. However, the American version is based on a pretty expensive British production that starred Patrick Stewart that was quite successful. Jerry Bruckheimer himself is producing it for CBS and the wonderful Rufus Sewell is starring in it. It’s being compared to “CSI” and “The X-Files.” That should be enough to get anyone’s attention.

Even better is the fact that the show is about a special science adviser to the government (Sewell) who, with his feisty female bodyguard Rachel (Marley Shelton) in tow, saves people from the worst abuses of science. Just vague enough to peak our interest without giving away anything at all.

Rufus Sewell stars in “Eleventh Hour” as Dr. Jacob Hood, a brilliant biophysicist and special science advisor to the government. His jurisdiction is absolute and Hood is dogged in his pursuit of those who would abuse and misuse scientific discoveries and breakthroughs for their own gain.

Special Agent Rachel Young (Marley Shelton) is a decorated FBI protection officer assigned to watch over Dr. Jacob Hood in “Eleventh Hour”.

Great news for Dark City fans out there.

A new edition of the movie is coming to DVD and Blu-Ray on July 29th. It’s the Dark City: Director’s Cut, which supposedly is 15 minutes longer than the original’s 96 minute run time.

There are other rumored special add-ons, like a new score, new special effects, new interviews, etc. All we know for sure is that the DVD will have “new special features”, according to Warner Brothers.

If you haven’t seen the movie, it’s a science fiction masterpiece starring Keifer Sutherland, Jennifer Connelly, William Hurt and Rufus Sewell. It’s been a long time since I’ve seen it, and I don’t remember much of it other than it was fantastic. Here is the quick synopsis from IMDB:

“A man struggles with memories of his past, including a wife he cannot remember, in a nightmarish world with no sun and run by beings with telekinetic powers who seek the souls of humans.”

Below is the artwork for the new DVD set. The cover is pretty awesome.

I checked on Amazon.com, and there doesn’t appear to be a way to pre-order it yet, but once there is one, I’ll pass it on.
